alt.binz causing high CPU usage?
« on: May 05, 2010, 07:31:11 am »
For the last week or so altbinz has been causing high CPU usage while downloading on two processes, Avastsvc.exe and NT Kernel & System.  If I stop the download they both go back to normal but when downloading they use up 70-80% of my CPU collectively.  I have windows 7 x64 with 4 gigs of ram and a Quadcore processor.  Any ideas what is causing this?

avsatsvc.exe would be a part of ur antivirus software so my guess would be it's scaning the downloaded artcles and is therfore increasing cpu usage. while the kernel thing seems to be something happening quite often looking at google search results.

Exclude all Alt.Binz folders from Avast, and/or disable NNTP scanning.

Thanks for the responses.  I disabled news scanning in Avast Virus Scanner and that solved half the problem.  I'm still getting laggy system performance while downloading though.  NT & System is the culprit.  Still looking for a solution to this.
