Problems with a.b when DL is 7MB/s and more
« on: November 14, 2010, 10:28:55 pm »
Hello,

first of all: sorry for my bad english.

Im using a.b 0.32.1 on Win7 Pro 32bit, 4GB RAM, 2 OCZ Vertex 2 Ex SSD (no RAID), AMD Phenom 9950. Max. DL-Speed: 17.000kb/s

When DL-Speed is faster then 6-7MB/s, a.b is very laggy, e.g. when im clickin onto PAR2-Tab, its open very very slow. After 30-40s its completly loaded and the dl is not faster then 12.5MB/s. Its not always like this, sometimes ive got max DL-Speed and a.b is running fine, no lags. CPU-Load is always between 60-90% on 1 Core, the others between 20-50%.

I already tryed to change every kind of prio in the settings, from idle till realtime, in taskmanager too for the altbinz.exe. I tryed to set the cache to 1020MB in a.b but no changes. a.b is still laggy when im dl'ing fast.

Ive got the problem since 0.31.5 or 6 dunno :(

Hope u can understand the problem :D

Never encountered such a problem, did you try to reset ab settings?
A clean one i mean, deleting your user/appdata/local/altbinz directory. (or rename it if you want to be safe and not lose any stuff for testing purpose)

Do remember to restart Alt.Binz when changing priorities and such. But clearly there's a bottleneck somewhere in your system when yEnc decoding articles.  Are you certain that Alt.Binz is excluded from all antivirus and firewall crap? Avira is notorious for messing with NNTP traffic, for example.

@dacaid: when im resetting a.b, is the trafficcounter on zero too?

@Hecks: im not using any firewall/antivir. no backgroudprograms open. when im clickin onto connect, a.b is immediately laggy. and there was nothing to decode just a small par2 :/

Yay, if you reset that way, you'll reset everything. Fresh clean start
