More important is what's in your Alt.Binz Log (set detailed logging). Check some common culprits:
1. Filename too long
2. Dodgy file in autoimport folder
3. Bad folder permissions
4. Antivirus/firewall
5. Corrupt queue file
6. PEBCAK
Also search the forum for the many related posts.

Thanks for the suggestions, i have fixed the problem by removing a queue that seemed to be hanging around but not downloading.
what a relief!
i have detailed logging set but have not been able to find a post that expalins where the log is actually kept, would you be able to point me to some info or let me know where i fond the log?
many thanks.

Glad that was sorted.
Log: the current one is on the Log tab, any saved ones should be in your user dir.

Ok I seem to be get the same Prob too.
Exception Access violation at address 00560F86 in module 'altbinz.exe'. Write of address 00000000
that is the error that comes uo in the detail log file
WHat is that in referance too.
I do think that it is a dodge NZB but just wanting to find out what the error means.

I have the same problem. I will look at the log book. However, this would seem to me to represent poor error handling and should be resolved with further programming.

Getting nowhere with this one either. The 0.31.5 version hangs straight away on startup, and doesn't add anything to the log file. My queues seem all ok and 0.31.3 doesn't have the same problems
-
Still got the same problem on 31.6, window hangs no logfile created CPU usage on one core at maximum gave it 5mins before I killed the process. Rolled back to 31.3 and all good again

I can't see that there's anything from 0.31.4 that could be causing this problem. I wonder if it's a permissions issue on your Alt.Binz folders, depending on how you actually did the upgrade, and assuming that you tried the other solutions, like clearing your queue file & backup, etc.
You could test by removing all old Alt.Binz and completely re-installing (clean out everything in user folder) and/or try running as admin. Since yours is an isolated case, it would useful to know what's going on with your system. You could also try debugging by running Process Explorer when you start Alt.Binz to see which files are being accessed:

Unless the Big Kahuna has more practical proposals ...

Got it sorted now, it was something dodgy in my config.abz file. The old one worked perfectly on 0.31.3 but all versions after that hung straight away. Something must have changed in 0.31.4 maybe something to do with the skins, but the old config.abz isn't corrupt.

what was it that you did? im having this very issue myself
