Binsearch busted?
« on: December 12, 2012, 06:20:32 pm »
Hi,
binsearch was working last night and I think even this morning like a few hours ago.  Getting nothing returned on any search.  Anybody else having problems?  Have stopped and restarted a couple of times.  Getting stuff returned from the Yabse.

Edit:
Not posted on the homepage but as soon as you try a search "Database maintenance. Check back in an hour or three"

Actually, my problem maybe a little different.

The only searches that are currently working for me are NZB.cc and Yabse.  All the other return absolutely nothing.

Strange problem, it used to work before I rebuilt my PC, any ideas?

Binsearch works. Double check options set in that tab.

A slight change this morning, I now have NZB.cc Yabse and Aeton working but nothing else  on Win8.

I've installed Win7 on a separate disk in the same PC and all the searches work, maybe it's something to do with Win8?  (Although they all used to work before I reinstalled Win8!)

Can someone familier with the Alt.Binz code suggest why some search engines would work and others not.  Thanks.

Do you have some firewall/AV installed? Some of them are known to change http headers.
Also, have you tried binsearch over SSL? (lock in binsearch tab should be yellow)

I tried binsearch over SSL but get "Error during transfer!".  Without SSL I do not get an error.

Is there anyway to turn on some detailed logging for searches?

It used to work before I reinstalled Win8 and I have it working on Win7 with the same firewall/av setup however I've tried it with Norton deactivated but same problem exists.

Heh, why I am not surprised it's Norton  ::)

For a test - deinstall Norton (deactivate is not enough), I'm sure binsearch will start working.

Deinstalled NIS then rebooted.

Nothing changed, only NZB.cc and Yabse are working for me on Windows 8.

They all work on Win7 with NIS installed.

Just tested binsearch using 0.39.9 on win8 pro 64 - its working with SSL turned on and off as well.

its picky about search term though i.e

"fringe s05"  = no results
while "fringe" or "fringe s05e10" does produce results
