Title: broken files not detected properly
Post by: spamwerbung on October 01, 2016, 07:57:00 pm
Hi,

I have experienced an issue with the par/checksum of downloaded files. I have an upload of 18 DVD where all files are damaged but shown correct (green) in Alt.Binz but they are in fact damaged. Because when I restart Alt.Binz and let Alt.Binz re-check the files they are correct detected as corrupt.

I even disabled memory caching to exclude memory corruption.

Any idea?

My crystal ball doesn't work these days, so I'll need something more to work with. NZB of couple of files including par2 would be nice. Good guess on disabling memory caching, however those files have to land via sata cables on HD and those things can cause corruption.
If I were you, I would download couple of those files TWICE and then binary compare them.

Apologies. :)

I have downloaded all files four times now from two different providers and the result is always the same. I have sent you the details incl. logs via PM.

The ypart values for part 137 place it in the middle of the file, instead of at the end.

Bingo. Until new version, this can be avoided by turning off Setup->Download1->When incomplete, position parts on correct position in file (yenc only)

Many thanks Rdl for discover some stupidity of a usenet poster [program].  :-X

However, is there something that can be implemented to detect corrupt files better? At the moment I guess do Alt.Binz check the file parts and if all of them are ok it assume the file must be also ok but in fact the file is not because parts are moved to the wrong place? Tbh, I don't mind who or what cause a corrupt file, I just would like that Alt.Binz detect them to kick in auto repair. Maybe an option to re-check files after download and puzzled the parts together, so it re-read the written file to check if all is ok with?

As I've already said "Until new version..."
So, fix is already ready...
