Collections disappearing from queue
« on: April 26, 2011, 09:47:10 pm »
I'm not 100% this is a bug and would love to know if I'm the only one experiencing this!

My download queue usually stays around the 100gig mark although I just noticed about 70gig has disappeared from the queue! I then closed Alt.Binz and loaded it up again and a further 3-4gig just disappeared!

I recently upgraded from 0.38.0 to 0.38.1 and wondered if this had caused it?? is there any ways I can get my old queue back?

I've never had problems like this before and keep my pc very clean!

Thanks! :)

So, you think it's disappearing from the queue on exit/startup? I didn't change anything regarding queue from 0.38.0 to 0.38.1
Describe in detail in what way were collection imported?
The only way I could see that happening is if I missed to mark collection as needed to be saved. That's why I'm asking you how exactly did the collection end up in queue.

ok, the collection is just what has built up over time from importing from RSS etc.

My pc does a backup every Sunday night so I dug around in that one from the 24th (so version 0.38.0 would have been present) and replaced to queue folder from the backup. Loaded up Alt.Binz and the queue is now 50gig!

I'm fairly confident that the backup from the 24th should have been 100% fine (contained around 100gig) as I would have noticed this at some point over the last 2 days.

Another thing to note. I used some random nzb's renamed to "---------------BREAK--------------" left in a paused stated to break the download queue up into different sections and oddly they are all missing yet content from the different sections are still present! So essentially what i'm trying to say is that for me to have accidentally deleted the items from the queue I would have had to select multiple items from different sections (with spaces in between) hit delete and select ok! hence why I'm confused how this occurred!

something seriously messed up has been happening! Been comparing the backup on sunday to today and nzb's that were half way though (3 of 8ish gig) just disappeared from my queue and considering the uptime of the pc is 9 days I'm rather confused!

Did you do backup while altbinz was running? How can you be sure it was not while altbinz was saving queue? I hope you didn't delete any file from queue dir hoping that altbinz will create file on next queue save?
Explain this "half way though" Multiple nzbs were half downloaded and they disappeared?
Once again, they disappear when you exit/enter alt.binz?

The backup that was created was using windows "backup and restore" onto to remote networked PC. This should not have caused any issues! I Think! :)

Explain this "half way though" Multiple nzbs were half downloaded and they disappeared?

When I loaded the backup from sunday at the top of the queue was a NZB that was half way through downloading. This NZB was not on the most recent queue from today although in the download folder is only a half downloaded NZB (i.e. some files unrared and a bunch of .rar files totaling about 40% of the NZB)

Once again, they disappear when you exit/enter alt.binz?

I assumed they disappeared while alt.binz was open as its not been closed for 9 days apart from updating!

Personally at the moment i'm leaning towards something crazy happening on my PC as clearly others would have reported this by now! Would just be nice to get to the bottom of what would cause this!

ok, been keeping an eye at it over the last 24 hours and no changes so I'm going to put it down to an issue on my end!

Just one last question! I'm right thinking that if I write a batch file to backup the "queue" folder that will be sufficient to restore the download queue if something bad happens again?

Just make sure that you're backing up files between queue saves. Datetime stamp of queue/queue.idx is the time queue was saved.

Interval between saves is set from altbinz or if you want to be fancy:
interval = datetime(queue/queue.idx) - datetime(queue/old_queue.idx)

queue.idx is the last file that is saved when saving queue.
