Connect button issue and crashing
« on: April 04, 2013, 11:55:50 pm »
So, I am still having the issue where the connect button will stop functioning randomly, sometimes after a few connect/reconnect cycles, sometimes it won't function at all after opening the program. The solution has always been to minimize to the tray, right click and click connect there or to restart the program.

Another issues is that when making any changes to the server config and minimizing to click connect as above (when not working in the main window), the program will crash, but not when clicking the connect button with the program open.
I have also noticed that when there are missing articles or connection issues to a server, after a long time of trying to download/connect unsuccessfully the program will crash.

I had that precise bug
I believe that sometimes altbinz needs clean reinstall because i did it and it solved that problem and some others (yenc resuming was broken, sometimes only 3/20 threads connected, had a lot of corrupted files too.)
Some settings must get mixed up when upgrading to new versions over and over
So, close altbinz, go to your "c:\users\yourusername\appdata\local" folder and rename altbinz folder to altbinz.bak
/!\ it will wipe your settings, history and queue /!\
But at this price, i'm pretty sure you won't have those troubles again

I'm pretty sure that isn't a viable solution, would be nice to get some feedback from the developer, rdl?

Yup, as well as non-SSL connections.

There are both ssl and nonsll connections? Or problem happens with both cases? How many connections are we talking about?

There are both SSL and non-SSL, 25 of each.
Not really an option to disable SSL as my speed will suffer dramatically.
Also, any idea on the connect button issue?

Thanks for you time.

That's a lot of connections. I have pretty good idea what's going on.
Workarounds for now:
-try lowering overall number of connections
-remove ssl connections (my guess is they are the cause of behaviour you're experiencing)
-workaround with ssl connection going over stunnel
-live with it until 0.4x series which will hopefully resolve many many similar problems (no ETA, I've promised so many times till now and failed to deliver)
-switch to another client

-try lowering overall number of connections

Will give that a bash and revert to this thread should it continue.

Many thanks.
