Something, however, must have changed in the intervening time.  If you've eliminated any local issues with Alt.Binz (corrupt queue, something dodgy in import folder, etc), then have a look at Windows Event Log.  Anything happen on your system during the day? Windows update, virus scan, etc?

completely uninstalled deleted all config and queues and installed version 0.25 and it still happens even with nothing in the queue. very weird.

windows is not set to auto update and my virus scan starts at midnight so it wasnt that tha interfered. cant find anything in the event logger. only thing that happens at 8pm on my pc is that download accelerator starts downloading but this has also been happening for 3 months and has never been a problem. i have tried starting it without download accelerator running and it still happens.

im stumped.

Y2K10 maybe...

edit... ok i reinstalled 31.3 with no queue and i get the following error now popping up every minute or so "invailid argument to date encode" but nothing shows up in the log

edit 2... full error shows up after a while "Exception Econverterror in module altbinz.exe at 000098BA invailid argument to date encode" then it crashes again

update : i got shitty and installed SABNZB whatever its called and Alt binz is now working again with no errors and no freezeing... WTF!

im confused but glad its all working again.

update2 : seems to be related to autoimport NZB from folder as i checked my settings and it wasnt checked and as soon as i checked it the error popped up again. unchecked it and it stopped.

Thanks for your posting, reznor!! Yesterday, after many months of using alt.binz, I suddenly got the same problem. Soon after starting it froze with 100% CPU. No configuration change whatsoever. I was clueless, as there was also nothing in the logs and the same downloads made alt.binz to freeze, I could download the other day.

Because of your posting, I could isolate the problem in no time and .... long story, short: I configured the desktop as my auto-import NZB folder and I put a password protected (file headers) RAR file there, which caused alt.binz to freeze. If the author of alt.binz is interested, here's a screen video: http://www.screentoaster.com/watch/stUE5VSk1IR19cSFhfX1pYUFdT . (Clicked too fast with the second rar file. it's generated with the option "encrypt file headers").

For now, I've changed the auto-import NZB folder to something else.

A number of people seem to use their Desktop as the autoimport folder.  As I've said before, this is just asking for trouble.  Such folders are called 'black holes' for a reason. ;)

Mine suddenly froze to everytime i tried to start it, nothing to do then ctrl-alt-del and close it.

I cleaned out the temp folder (3gig on space) and problem was solved
