CPU 100% when trying to connect
« on: November 25, 2007, 05:33:15 pm »
I have been having problems with usenetserver for awhile now and when I'm only connected to 5 or 6 of the 10 and alt.binz is trying to connect to the rest the CPU is at 100%.  This is for SSL connection

Basically when the action in the bottom box says "connecting" my cpu is 100% and if I disable that one it will drop to the usual 10%.  ( I don't understand shy it needs 100% cpu to just connect when the rest is downloading)

For a non SSL connection my CPU stays at 100% all the time dipping to 80% occasionally.

This is weird because it stays at 100%

I don't know if this is a problem on my end of the prog.

Thanks for any responses

I just read your post and remember reading a post in the General Talk earlier with this same thing, or at least basically the same thing.

Here's the response from It's_Me:)

However, I found out how one can reliably connect to usenet-news.net. Simply add ssl.usenet-news.net as three different servers, one on port 443, one on port 563 and one on port 8080. Then the connect problems are gone. I would have added that to http://www.altbinz.com/forum/index.php?topic=1392.0 but the thread is locked.

End Quote

Maybe that will help you out a little....

That's curious.  Even while not downloading or processing anything, and not connected to server, i.e. completely idle?

if idle, check your PAR2 tab, it may be something is checking/verifying/unraring?

I fixed it I needed to reinstall the program something weird was going on.  and it seems that when I'm fully connected to usenetserver then I'm getting 10% cpu but when I have one of the ports saying connecting and thats all it uses up 100% of the cpu.

It's really weird but it happens on my buddies computer to so I don't think that it's just mine

Any other suggestions are appreciated

Just to clarify: did you fix it by re-installing or not?

sorry about that.  the idle problem was fixed after reinstall but when I'm downlading and I have just one thread saying connecting both me and my brothers computers full cpu is being used.  Then when that last one connects it goes to the normal 10%

Possibile fix for that in next version. So please post your thought after new version is out.

I have the same problem.
My CPU use is while unrarring 100% think thats normal.
But when downloading also 100% en will idle almost 75% of my normal cpu.

Tried the settings and al the other thing like reinstall.
That didn't help.

So i went back to version 26.8 and the problems where over.
Hope version 10 while solve it.

Ps. Love the NZB name for a folder option in Alt.Binz. Thats why i deleted all others like newsleecher and Grabit.
