Make sure you don't have "Minimize to tray on close" checked in "setup/user interface".

the checkbox for "minimize to tray on close" is NOT marked in setup/user interface.

So now, you kill process, you start altbinz, you try to close it and again you have to kill the process? Could you backup configuration/queue files and then try to find which one is corrupt? And then send me that file.

I can verify the same issue.  If any application including altbinz pops up a balloon tip within the systray, it will cause Altbinz to lockup.  Also, when it starts verifying and repairing, it will also lockup.

Issue is identical on another system as well.  I have tried all available versions of Altbinz for an alleviation and all versions freeze when repairing files and/or a balloon tip pops up.

The only way to shut it down is by killing the process (WHICH i notice, seems to hang at 25% CPU everytime it has frozen).  If left long enough, the comp(s) will reboot due to CPU overheat protection

Running latest Altbinz on
--MY SPECS--
Win7 Ultimate x64 SP1
16GB RAM
AMD FX4100 Bulldozer Quad Core @ 3.6Ghz
ASUS M5A97EVO
GeForce GTX480

--OTHER SYSTEM--
Win7 Ultimate SP1
16GB RAM
AMD Phenom II Quad Core @ 3.2Ghz
ASUS M4A87TD-USB3
ATI RadeonHD 6800

@Rdl

off already. The only options checked off are:   Display Speed in tray  and  Restore Alt.Binz on External NZB Import

It seems that whatever the default settings are loaded after being installed will suffice.  I have a copy of my queue and config file if you'd like me to email them.

EDIT: One item of particular interest that works on accelerating the issue on my end is whenever Asus' AI Suite generates a balloon tip stating CPU temp is at 65.

On my alias computer, there is no AI Suite installed but appears to happen whenever it lays dormant in the systray for a short period of time.  I've also tried just leaving the window 'minimized' so I can babysit it and it will also lockup on either comp

@rdl

Have you managed to re-create the issue?

No. I've just tried with small program that pops balloon hints every 60 seconds. I've left it for 20min with altbinz sitting in tray and I had no problem bringing up altbinz from tray and then closing it.

I have no idea whats causing this issue but it's amazingly frustrating to no end when you're trying to grab 80+GB of data and it randomly freezes.  Forcing a shutdown causes the app to forget its' progress it's made and proceeds to re-download when relaunched.  There just has to be something in the programming code for systray that's causing this or might even be a conflict with an update that M$ pushed out... i wonder

I think I'm on to something.  Altbinz froze, so I forced it closed.  Went to transfer a file I had JUST  downloaded and I received some error pertaining to some invalid argument with par2.exe.

It appears Altbinz freezes when it attempts to repair a rar/par file that I'm guessing it's having difficulty with. If I can duplicate the error, I will screenshot it and post it

0.3.9.7 is the first unstable release I'm experiencing. It often just freezes ("not responding") or refuses to exit properly (has to be killed with task manager): this is sometimes accompanied by an access violation error:
