autounrar / download par2 repair files not happening
« on: April 29, 2015, 08:20:21 am »
alt.binz 0.39.15

I've just reinstalled Windows 8, started and reconfigured alt.binz today.  Only firewall is Windows default firewall, and connectivity isn't an issue as I can download fine.

Autounrar does not happen when there is nothing to repair on something downloaded.
Automatic downloading of par2 to repair, if there is something to repair, does not happen.

I have Autounrar checked.
I have small par2 download checked, and they get downloaded fine.
I have closed alt.binz and deleted par2info.abz as another thread suggests.

I can manually download the par2 needed for repair, and then go to the par2 tab and see things green, and manually unrar.

I have detailed logging turned on, and the last line for every download after a repair is:

[30/04/2015 4:37:15 p.m.] [PAR2&Unrar] "....par2" Par2 repair successful

There's no errors.  Just no progress after standard looking logging statements.  It happens for every download.  Nothing has autounrared.

I had an nzb that had completed, but not been repaired, and it had been removed from both download queue and par2.  So I readded the NZB, then unpaused two par2 files.  The repair was automatic when the second par2 finished downloading, and the autounrar kicked in then.

[30/04/2015 6:42:36 p.m.] [Dec] Yenc file xxx.vol03+04.par2 decoded in 109ms
[30/04/2015 6:42:37 p.m.] [PAR2&Unrar] Repairing xxx.vol15+16.par2
[30/04/2015 6:42:37 p.m.] [PAR2&Unrar] "C:\INCOMING\__altbinz\xxx\xxx.vol15+16.par2" Par2 repair started
[30/04/2015 6:42:41 p.m.] [PAR2&Unrar] "C:\INCOMING\__altbinz\xxx\xxx.vol15+16.par2" Par2 repair successful
[30/04/2015 6:42:42 p.m.] [PAR2&Unrar] "C:\INCOMING\__altbinz\xxx\xxx.rar" unrar started
[30/04/2015 6:42:42 p.m.] [PAR2&Unrar] Source dir: C:\INCOMING\__altbinz\xxx\
[30/04/2015 6:42:42 p.m.] [PAR2&Unrar] Unrar dir: C:\INCOMING\__altbinz\
[30/04/2015 6:42:43 p.m.] [PAR2&Unrar] xxx.mp4 extracted ok
[30/04/2015 6:42:43 p.m.] [PAR2&Unrar] "C:\INCOMING\__altbinz\xxx\xxx.rar" unrar finished

But I had to manually unrar three other completed and undamaged sets.  Their logs before the unrar ended with these lines:

[30/04/2015 6:36:48 p.m.] [T2] Article finished 24/27 yyy.rar
[30/04/2015 6:36:51 p.m.] [T1] Article finished 26/27 yyy.rar
[30/04/2015 6:36:51 p.m.] [Dec] Yenc file yyy.rar decoded in 531ms

And the next mention of 'yyy.rar' was after my manual unrar from the par2 tab:

[30/04/2015 6:38:23 p.m.] [PAR2&Unrar] "C:\INCOMING\__altbinz\yyy\yyy.rar" unrar started
[30/04/2015 6:38:23 p.m.] [PAR2&Unrar] Source dir: C:\INCOMING\__altbinz\yyy\
[30/04/2015 6:38:23 p.m.] [PAR2&Unrar] Unrar dir: C:\INCOMING\__altbinz\yyy
[30/04/2015 6:38:28 p.m.] [PAR2&Unrar] yyy.mp4 extracted ok
[30/04/2015 6:38:28 p.m.] [PAR2&Unrar] "C:\INCOMING\__altbinz\yyy\yyy.rar" unrar finished

So, autounrar is working, but only if I unpause the par2 required to do the repair.  But not always.  And never for undamaged sets.

If this is separate and unreleated, I'll post it to a new thread, but it sounds very familiar - except I don't auto clean my download or par2 queues.

I have seen something similar - the par2 check realises it needs to download an additional par2 file to repair the set, and it usually grabs a file based on required blocks to repair, but then for whatever reason the par2 repair just doesn't complete.  It goes through the process, but no repair.

This could be because there still aren't enough blocks or it "gets confused" and just wont repair for some unknown reason.

To get around this, in the past I've manually unpaused an additional par2 file from the download queue, once that finishes downloading, this prompts the par2 check to check over the entire fileset again, and often that is enough to continue to the process of repair and unrar and subsequent cleanup.

But on a semi regular basis, it just wont complete - I end up using Quickpar or Multipar to repair and then I can right-click the par2 set and select the "unrar par2/sfv" (CTRL-U) option which then unrars and cleans up the files for me.

If you need extracts of logs, I can probably find something, or just wait until it happens again.

Thanks.
