2 problems with Scheduler...
« on: November 20, 2008, 06:31:24 am »
Newbie contributor here and I feel quite lousy having my first post be a bug report, but still I had to ask:

1. Speed limits in scheduler don't seem to be respected - Under setup>connection, I setup my maximum download speed to 150 KB/Sec and then setup time-limits in scheduler. However, when I actually started downloading files, I found consistently that Alt.Binz was ignoring the speed limit. I wasn't able to take a movie to show this, but here's a screenshot that might help:

2. Click-n-drag in Scheduler - according to this post by Rdl, I should be able to click-drag, shift-click and ctrl-click in Scheduler. Can't seem to be able to any of that.

Version/OS Info:

1. Alt.Binz 0.28.3/03.11.2008
2. Windows XP SP2

PS: I do love Alt.Binz just to be clear :) - The RSS functionality is just killer!

1. the max speed is not the speedlimit. it only defines the stepps of the speedlimit.

example:

your real max-speed is 10000 Mbit

you put in download max dl-speed 8000

then 8000 is 100%
50% is 4000 and so forth.

this percentage is the actual speedlimiter...

2. the speedlimit is not very exact

the speed tends to fluctuate around the set value by aproximatly 50 KB/s with speedlimits set in the area of 100 kb/s the fluctuation is substantial while it hardly effects speedlimits set around 800-1200 kb/s or above

Yes agreed. I have max. download speed set to 150 k and my scheduler set to 70% of max, so in the status bar when scheduler is active, I see the limit is 105 k. That's good :)

I have to be careful about how much bandwidth I use at a time otherwise I'll start getting choked off at the network end. I already have a bunch of other applications running so if I consistently go over my limit that's going to be a big problem.

well try lower speedlimits like 50-75 so that even with the +50kb you don't get to fast... an other idea would be to just use 1 conection that might lessen the fluctuation i imagine...

in a short test with one connection and 105k limit the max came up 115..
