not enough storage is available to process the command
« on: September 15, 2010, 11:04:11 am »
Hello,

I Keep getting this 'error' after alt binz running a few minutes. I have to use forced shutdown so I can't copy paste the log. Also I keep getting the 'exception access violation' message and this trashes your log as you probably know. I have read that topic and took action as mentioned, but it doesn't seem to work.
The message box 'not enough storage is available to process the command' also will not go away after you click it. It keeps coming back and the message boxes keep piling up if you don't click them.
How can I get rid of this problem because this is getting very frustrating!??

I use windows 7 ultimate 64 bit, no additional firewall and alt binz version 0.31.6

Thanks in advance

it seems to me the problem occurs after decoding, when for some reason alt.binz can not save the file to disk this way the temp folder fills up. the other weird message later on is that an other program seems to block alt.binz form accessing the temp data.
Ususaly 80-90 % of errors like this:

[Dec] Exception Access violation at address 00562CC6 in module 'altbinz.exe'. Write of address 00000000

are caused by the pathlength limitation of windows, but this doesn't seem to be the case here. Maybe it could be UAC related.

Do you run Alt.binz as Admin?

Also i would recomend useing article caching to increase disk life:

[Dec] File C:\altbinz\temp\\6afaa9b7ed3306639b56a9a4ac8907d9\part.1 is locked by another program!

Antivirus?

first of all, thanks for the reply's!

@davidq666
UAC is off (that means it turned onto 'never notify')
should it help to clean out the temp folder on a frequent base?
and in order to run alt binz in administrator mode, do you have to right click the exe file and choose run as admin every time?
because the first few times I did, but now alt binz is pinned in my task bar so opens automatically when I load a nzb file

@Hecks
You mean my anti virus software is blocking those files or something? And would clean out the temp folder help?

thanks in advance guys

no thats not neccessay. the temp dir should get cleaned up automaticaly once the file is decoded and saved to disk. The easiest way to run Alt.binz as Admin is to rightclick on altbinz.exe porperties->compability check "allways run as admin". After that Altbinz should be run as Admin automaticaly. i would still recomend "article caching" because altbinz will then use the ram as temp dir, so that the disk is used much less and therefore has a better "life expectancy" :-)

ok I set it up like 250MB max cache size and remove articles stored after max 3 minutes
that sounds about right?

as it says in the wiki it depends on the average filesize and speed of connection ect. i personaly have set the cache much higher, because it only uses what it needs and somtimes, but rather rarely i come across people that post big 200-700MB+ files, thats where a bigger cache comes in handy.

when I entered the values I immediately got the message: "not enough storage is available..."
I think my machine is ready for a clean install...
