0.33.4 No Responding

It happens randomly. You can be opening the program, adding a nzb or just downloading.
I have tried on both Windows 7 64-bit and 32-bit. Same problem.
It's nothing to do with unraring because I have had it freeze right in the middle of downloading a 1.2GB file.

Little more info is needed. Do you use article caching option?

Sorry about that. Was in a bit of a hurry.  :D

Under Setup > Download #2 under "article caching" I have "0MB" Set for "Maximum memory cache size"

And for "Remove articles stored in cache for more then" set to "30 minutes"

Both "Pause downloading while repairing" and "Pause downloading while unraring" are un-ticked.

I hope this is enough info. If not please say so and I'll provide more for you.

Ok just updated to 0.35.0 and am still having this problem. This time all I did was click connect with everything in the queue paused and the gui freezes. I deleted all of the log files and then restart alt.binz and click connect and gui freezes. I then check to see if there is anything in the log file for the freeze but all that appears in the log file is the following.

[4/02/2011 4:15:55 PM] [Main] Alt.Binz 0.35.0 [03.02.2011] started.

why did u delete all log files?

The log tab only shows you the last xxx lines of your current alt.binz session.

the best way would be to turn on (detailed) logging to file. after a crash simply go to .../Altbinz/log and open the file for the day in question named yyyymmdd.log (y=year,m=month,d=day). if there are any errors listed, those could be helpful to narrow down what the problem could be.

I did check the logs for error's before deleting them. There was not error's in the logs. I also notice that when the program freezes for around 10 to 30 seconds all downloads stop and like I said above there is no error's in the log? I am running Kaspersky as my Internet security. Have any had trouble with Kaspersky and alt.binz?

Try disabling NNTP scanning and exclude all Alt.Binz folders from Kasperksy.

Just thought I would let you know that I have also had the gui freeze without any connections to a usenet server. Open Alt.binz then minimize and when I try to restore alt.binz it won't restore or it does restore but the gui is frozen for around 1 to 2 minutes.

In the absence of any other obvious explanations, it might be useful if you could test one time running Process Monitor & Process Explorer when the hanging occurs. This could help to narrow down what's actually happening on your machine at these times:

Dunno if this is the problem, but I disabled RSSTimer in the config file and it stops crashing. I got my first crash with 0.35/0.35.1 today so this was my first suspect.

I can confirm that as soon as I press the Timer button on the RSS tab and it refeshes, the program crashes. Is it related to the issue some seem to have or replicate the solution? The problematic feed was from a combined Binsearch and Yahoo Pipes  ;)

PS.: This only occurs in one of my favorite feeds. The others run fine so I just switched.
PS2.: There isn't any log at all if I start with rss timer pushed.

[07/02/2011 11:59:35] [Main] Alt.Binz 0.35.1 [05.02.2011] closed. <I just put it here to show that my 10 or so attempts to start the program were not logged. Normal startup bellow>
