Hello,
Using latest build, 0.31.5 via Giganews.. On a Win Vista x64 i7 PC with 6GB memory... No other issues on machine... About 2 days ago, I started having issues to completly download anything... Some files will download, but the rest will be stuck on decoding:
These same nzb's work find on other PCs.
Also, Now AltBinz is now using 1.5Gb of memory...
I searched other topics and see something about GameGuard from nProtect, but since I have never installed a game on this system, that's impossible. I also uninstalled any antivrus, so that's not affecting it...
Here is a sample from my log:

I have tried rebooting, etc.. How can i fix this?
-
I assume your mobo has 4 memory slots. Could you give the breakdown of how your memory is distributed. It's probably nothing but I can't stop thinking, why 6GB. Which AV where you using? Can you post the nzb so I can try it; being from Missouri and all.
ce
Updated : Scratch that nzb request.
-
No. 6 memory slots. It uses triple memory, so 3 slots are filled with 2GB each.
Nothing is wrong with the hardware.. the machine is working perfectly other than altbinz.
As for the nzb, it is ANY nzb that doesn't work.. From any newsgroup listing website.
Again, this did work up untill a few days ago.
-
How has your setup changed in the last few days. Does your System event log shed any light on the matter? AB is not the issue. I would assume AB is being affected by something else on your system. Which antivirus was installed, and how did you remove it? I know, but some antivirus/firewall apps have do not completely uninstall with Add/Remove programs.

Nope. Nothing in system log. I scanned the machine with Malwarebytes. Nothing came up.
I actually don't have antivirus on this machine as it is only used for downloading and storage of movies. There is no software run on it besides FTP server, altbinz, and Air Video Server for iPad. Since no excecutables are being run besides these, and it is 64 bit, and I have Windows Firewall blocking most ports, I feel no need for antivirus.
-
Are the drives local or a NAS? I am running W7 x64 with 8GB with no problem. You said ," same nzb's work find on other PCs." I am assuming they were also tested with AB?
-
2 internal RAID 5 SATA arrays w/ about 18TB
-
did you recently modify the RAID configuration?
-
No. About 2 months ago, replaced a failed drive... rebuilt the array and used altbinz many times since then. Never had a problem till this week.
-
Same problem here, since today.
-
Glad, I'm not the only one.
Diabhal: Have you done anything different that could have caused this?
-
I tried removing the old AltBinz folder and recreating a new on.. Didn't work. I tried downgrading to an older version... didn't work.. I tried copying the install from my laptop here (which works) to my server... didn't work..
Anyone have any ideas? I have been dead in the water here for a week.

Try removing all altbinz settings from misc dir (either altbinz local dir or users/app/roaming dir)
-
i didnt see anything for altbinz under: C:\Users\EvanWasHere\AppData\Roaming
I wiped out the original program files folder and created a new folder and it wasn't fixed.
Is there a folder I am missing?
-
How about C:\Users\EvanWasHere\AppData\Local ?
-
No. I had checked there too.
-
So, when you start altbinz, you have to enter all server info?
What's your download path?
-
Yes.
I am downloading to my D drive, which has 2 TB free. It is to my download folder which I have no issue filling up from other sources.
My C drive (for the cache) has over 1 GB in it free... The files I am downloading are anywhere from 10 to 50 MB each in size.. I cleared the download list and tried to download another nzb. On the first 50MB rar, it again got stuck at "decoding"... the second and third rars were able to decode. I then took the same nzb and put it to my laptop, and was able to succesfully download and unrar the entire download
-
Perhaps you could try moving your temp folder to another drive. Then you could at least discount read/write errors on your C drive as the culprit. You could also try caching articles in RAM (assuming RAM memcheck comes up OK).
-
Same problem happening to me today, Got 4gb sitting in the temp folder that isnt decoding.
Log is empty.
Just started today but 2 other things worked fine before hand. Nothing has changed on the computer.
Dont really want to have to start downloading them again as iv only got 8gb left for rest of the month.
Is there a programe to maually join all the parts together.
yenc32 (http://sourceforge.net/projects/yenc32/files/yEnc32/yEnc32%201.0.8.208/yenc32-108.exe/download) worked on them fine.
----
Log is now saying the file name is too long.
[18/05/2010 4:16:08 p.m.] [Dec] Exception Cannot create file "". The filename or extension is too long
Its not really that long just
C:\temp\Sci.Fi.Science.Physics.of.The.Impossible.S01E02.How.To.Travel.To.A.Parallel.Universe.720p.HDTV.DD5.1.x264-CtrlHD
So its more on the posters fault.
