0.42.0.1 Backup server not working
« on: June 05, 2016, 11:57:06 pm »
Windows 10 Home.

Backup server isn't currently working for me.

If a file fails downloading, I disable my primary (astraweb, maxage 0) and backup (tweaknews, maxage 0), and enable another primary (tweaknews, maxage 0).  Then the file downloads completely and successfully.  I've set the primary tweaknews connection to connect while idle, and it connects and authenticates.

I've seen it work in the past with the new system of concurrently connected primary and backup threads, it just doesn't seem to be doing it's job in the recent past.  I've just been manually downloading corrupt astraweb files from the backup server for the past month or so.

When it happens again, I'll add logs.

The zipped log is 85KB here, and around 1MB extracted.

It contains at 2AM a scheduled attempt to download the file, which failed with the last eight or so files being incomplete.  I do see some tweaknews connections (my backup server), so perhaps it was a tweaknews problem rather than an alt.binz problem.

Then at 9AM a manual download of enough selected files via tweaknews alone, where I did a manual repair and extraction when quickpar had enough blocks.

I see nothing wrong in the log. "The problem" is tweaknews. Obviously it fetches missing articles from some place, so missing articles become available after some time.

I suggest this:
- add retry count and some delay between in settings
- since you're using astra, make sure you have both eu and us servers active
