0.31.1 par2 check stuck
« on: June 04, 2009, 08:11:12 am »
tried downloading this:

Wurst.S01E07.S01E07.720p.HDTV.X264-DIMENSIO:

(there is another version, didn't tried it yet)

however, the par2 start checking the file before unrar, and it get stuck , the par2 tab is not responsive anymore, cant delete entries in this tab or do any other action in this tab.
the file itself needs repair as it has an unexpected end of file (according to unrar i used outside of abz:

!   D:\News\Wurst.S01E07.S01E07.720p.HDTV.X264-DIMENSIO\Wurst.107.720p-dimension.r22: CRC failed in Wurst.S01E07.720p.HDTV.X264-DIMENSION.mkv. The file is corrupt
!   D:\News\Wurst.S01E07.S01E07.720p.HDTV.X264-DIMENSIO\Wurst.107.720p-dimension.r22: Unexpected end of archive

)

log only states it started:

[04/06/2009 09:00:09] [PAR2&Unrar] Repairing Wurst.107.720p-dimension.par2
[04/06/2009 09:00:09] [PAR2&Unrar] "d:\news\Wurst.s01e07.s01e07.720p.hdtv.x264-dimensio\Wurst.107.720p-dimension.par2" Par2 repair started

i've trie restart abz and do a manual check from the par2 tab, but it happens again...

using windows 7

I've had this problem for several releases, not just 31.1. In fact, I'd be tempted to say I've always had this problem. It happens on PAR2 sets created for official posts to various newsgroups, so I'm inclined to believe it isn't the NZB, articles, or par2 files. The way to get around it is to exit alt.binz, then delete the PAR2INFO.abz file in altbinz\misc. That'll get rid of everything in the PAR2 tab, then you can re-import the *.par2 file and continue (you'll have to manually select unRAR, and I don't think your unRAR directory will be respected.

I can't determine any rhyme or reason as to when the PAR2 tab gets confused like that. The closest I've come is moving things around in the download queue while downloading seems to cause it. If I delete the item in question from the download queue, clear out the par2 tab as instructed above, re-queue it, and leave alt.binz alone, it processes it just fine. Another indication it isn't the post itself.

sorry for that, i just thought giving the nzb file making the problem so you could test it.
anyway, there are 2 different nzb for the same show/ep , 1 that works without a problem (his might be the one you downloaded) and another one that stuck (see the link i provided in my first post).

i am using astraweb, and had zero problems till now.

also the par2 tab was empty, and after restarting abz a few times, i've notices the tab filled with very old item that i've deleted long ago, not sure from where they came, might be from a backup file?

Again, you really need to delete the par2info.abz file in the misc directory of alt.binz. Old stuff doesn't just appear without a seriously corrupt par2info.abz file.

i understand your reasons...the irc-channel is a better place to discuss such details... just checked the second nzb... unrared without any problem. i have to agree somewhat with watcher i too have experienced seemingly random par2 confusions/lock-ups. but i would suggest for such a case to leave the collection in the queue and pausing AB. get arid of the entry in the par2 tab unpause an other par-file. if u restart it will most likely download and unrar as it's supposed to...

i did delete and the par2 items keep cominh back,
waht lead me to beleave that the being used are stored in another folder,
well, on windows 7 (64bit) these files are located in :
drive:\Users\username\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\Alt.Binz\misc
so the misc folder under abz is not used.
deleting the file cleans the par2 tab.
i've noticed that this folder  also keeps getting bigger with lots of .tmp files and lots of "copy of queue" files....

Ah, Virtual Store ...it certainly shouldn't be using that.  That means it was created by UAC when the system tried to write to Program Files without write access.  I recommend removing all Alt.Binz folders and reinstalling (then /misc should appear under non-Virtual user directory), and/or moving Alt.Binz out of Program Files altogether.
