Title: "Assemble incompletes" function
Post by: louis_cyphre on March 23, 2010, 02:07:24 pm
Dear Author,

Sometimes when there is a small percentage missing from an archive alt.binz would stall.
NewsBin Pro offers a function called "Assemble incompletes" which - well assembles the file regardless of the missing chunk.

Since you can repair the file with par2 afterwards you don't need to find another usenet provider/ server just because of a couple of missing bytes..

Kind regards
Ingo

there ist an option in download #1 to position incompletes correctly. other than that the only thing that might stall would be the number of retries specified in the connection-settings...

Dear OP,

Alt.Binz will create the file even if incomplete once all retries have been attempted, and then repair with par2 if available.  This is standard behaviour.

As ever, if you have a specific example that's causing problems, first read your Log, then list the steps here to reproduce it so that it can be debugged.  Generic "it doesn't work sometimes" posts are really no help at all.

Regards,

Hecks

Thanks alot for clearing things up, lowering the retry count and delay solved my problem.

That's what I call good support..

Kind regards,
Ingo
