If I right click a PAR2 set from within the PAR2 tab and select UnRar.
It unrars to the download folder and not the folder I have assigned in the options menu as my default Unrar folder.
How can I make it unrar to my assigned unrar folder?
-
It's not the way the things funcion in alt.binz. Last file that contributed to par2 set transfered unrar folder info. So you have a chance till last file downloads to change where will par2 set be unrared. And you can't change that by changing default unrar folder in setup, but by changing unrar folder for that collection in Download queue tab.

Thanks...
Is it possible for the right clicked unrar option to give the choice of default download location or default unrar location?
If not then nevermind as I dont use the option very often I just came accross it when I imported a par2 set because if I understand correctly I will then only be able to unrar to my default download folder.
If than makes sense

after importing a par2 set simply unpause on of the left par2 files in your queue then unrar will autom. start to the right target.
-
I see what you mean, but this was an import of a par2 set that was not in my download queue.
I used this becuase the multi-core par2 verify is much faster than quickpar and I'm to lazy to run it from a command prompt.
So I thought I'd use alt.binz par2 checking for a download I done elsewhere and unrar it too. The option to select the unrar location (default d/load or default unrar) would be very handy for me.

Let me upgrade this to a feature request, then - moved to Requests forum. :)

I've come to notice that when you add a par2 after you have cleaned your download queue, you can select unrar but not the destination. Can you please add the option to change the unrar folder in the par2 tab? Of course that shouldn't interfere with the unrar-folder setting from the download queue.

I don't think that's what he's talking about. When it automatically unrar's a rar set it follows the "unrar to a different folder" option but if you right click on the par set and click unrar it disregards the option and puts it in the download folder instead.

nope not exactly. if a par2-set is imported via queue it comes with the unrar parameter coresponding to the collection in the queue and it will be unrared to the set unrar dir wether that's done automaticaly or manualy doesn't matter.
The Problem is that if a par-set is imported manualy it comes with no unrar dir so it will unrar to the download dir. so what would be needed would be either an optional import dialog where an unrar dir can be defined or a button/right-click-menue option to do the same...

exactly, or an option to choose the unrar folder that is disabled by default and is enabled by altbinz after importing a par2 set manually. btw I'm still curious if you could add the sfv support, so altbinz can check and unrar throught the sfv file, in case there are no par files, and just say "not working" :) in case a file is missing or damaged?

Hi,
I was wondering if it would be possible to implement an option to choose manually for one or a group of folders where to unrar the files?
In the par2 tab, the only option is to simply unrar, which eveytime makes the user having to change in setup where to unrar and its very easy to forget to do that check before each unrarring. After a night of downloading where i end up with episodes of several tv shows, this would make unraring so much quicker! :-*
The search box on the forum did not find a similar thread, so i hope this thread is ok.
Best regards

there is an import window u can use for that purpose:
settings->misc "prompt for name"+"releasename as default"
settings->user interface "use dialof when renaming"
-
Right-click on item in queue, choose 'Change unrar folder'. There's also a button on the queue toolbar.
Edit: ah, I see you mean from the PAR2 tab. Ignore me.

Thanks for the replies.
@ davidq666: honestly i don't really get what this has to do with it ??? I don't have an issue with naming the subject or download folder.
Probably a picture will be clearer, as always ;D

It'd be very helpful if when selecting unrar, a direct option (like with a tiny folder icon) would also be there to select a location. A bit like the 'move' action right underneath that opens up to 4 options...
best regards :]

What david means is: enable that dialog, and you'll be able to choose unrar location from it when you import a PAR2.
Although I'm unclear now why you want this on the PAR2 tab, as in all other cases you'd want to do this on the Queue tab ...
Edit: Reading your post again, if it's dl from RSS that you're trying to process, then you can add different unrar folders to your RSS filters (see wiki). If it's manual dl'ing, then just do what I suggested before on the queue items when they're loaded.

oh, ok. :)

I don't use RSS at all, just use the search with newzleech, binsearch or nzbindex tabs.
Indeed this is all starting to get clearer (only started to use altbinz for unrar this morning ::)), but the unrar action inside the 'download queue' tab is only useful before all the parts are done, so it's for people who use the auto unrar feature. I don't use that as i don't want to leave my storage devices turned on all night just for this.
I thought it would be useful in the par2 tab as it's the first thing i check (make sure all lines have their green icon ;)) or it would be confusing if another option was in the download queue tab (or could call it 'Unrar NOW' ;D)

While you're waiting I recommend investing in storage devices with a sleep mode. :P
