Better handling of par2 history
« on: December 29, 2014, 06:25:59 pm »
Hi,

Every once in awhile, Alt.binz gets confused and stops repairing/unraring downloads. This often happens if the PC crashes (or is hard-reset) while Alt.binz is running. In such cases, deleting the par2info.abz file in "C:\Users\MyAccount\AppData\Local\Alt.Binz\misc" before starting Alt.binz always clears it up, but it would be nice if the program itself did a better job of detecting such conditions on its own (and correcting them, naturally).

Download queue has a regular backup done, so if there is a crash, the download queue is preserved

It would be very nice if was possible for regular, user chosen intervals, backup of the the par2 tab content.

All new content in this tab disappears if there is a crash

I concur, I have seen my par2 history default to the last time I exited Alt.binz correctly - which in some cases that may be weeks or months.

If there is a power failure or a OS crash, then the download queue is preserved, but the par2 history is only preserved to the last correct exit of the app (weeks or months).

Maybe if the par2 history was backed up at the same time as the download queue, that would potentially solve it please?

Thanks. dman.

sorry to bump an old thread, but this is the same or pretty similar to what I just posted a request for - regular saves of the par2 database
