Please make it a configurable option, say, flashing, current, popup, statusbar, etc

Well i dunno about anyone else , but i idle in their IRC channel and see when new versions come out , so don't really see the point in it myself , but that's my opinion.

Edit: a friend just suggested something better , a popup that says "donate you cheap bastard" :)
