I don't know wether there are special reqirements from the part of the newsserver provider or the different search engines, but a thumbnail viewer would be very handy for downloading images because most of the time you realy can't tell what's in it only judging by the name...

THere is no way to do that. There are few usenet providers that have such option, Easynews beeing the best. But that part has nothing to do with NNTP part of usenet.
