Taskbar button is fine over here. No big pixels.

Maybe some inspiration from http://code.google.com/p/win7shell/.

Unrar and repair why not but what about adding overall download progress? ;)

Exactly what I thought. Will try it ASAP. Not sure how to do it for downloading (current nzb or whole queue, will it be confusing when switching to repair/unrar)

The reason I suggested "whole queue" is that repair and unrar is quite fast to display so most of the time not really visible, but overall d/l could take much more time and "whole queue" would allow monitoring progress!
As far as switching from one state to another, why not following the same behaviour as the tray icon:
green icon with overall progress then whenever necessary, switch over to amber then purple!

I agree, what to monitor in the display can be awkward.  I like the idea of different colors for different tasks.  Only thing I see is many may have it set to not pause d/l when unrar and paring.  You could have Par and Rar as higher priority so if those tasks are taking place the progress bar would reflect those tasks.  Once they complete and d/l is the only active task then display the d/l progress.  This mechanism would work no matter if d/l pauses to par and unrar or not.

Display Priority; lower the number the higher the priority and that status is displayed
0 - Rar
1 - Par
2 - D/L

yeah that what i meant. as for the display of the download why not have an option to choose either whole queue or current nzb acording to personal preference. if thats not possible i would go for current nzb since the progress of the "whole queue" can be to some extent be monitored by looking at the ETA that's displayed...

judging by the size of the taskbar extention it could also be used to display other states or settings via miniature icons, for example a mini pause-button if paused or a mini shutdown-button if shutdown is enabled...
