Gzip compression is working nicely for viewing RSS feeds apart from Binsearch.  But:

1. It isn't enabled for downloads from feeds other than Binsearch.

2. Once a download is made from a non-Binsearch feed, the gzip support is disabled for all feeds, including Binsearch.

To reproduce, test viewing & downloading from this:

http://www.binsearch.net/rss.php?max=50&g=alt.binaries.multimedia

All should be fine.  Then test a download from:

http://www.newzleech.com/rss.php?n=80&g=alt.binaries.multimedia

Download will be fine, but now the Binsearch feed returns:

"Your RSS reader does not support (gzip) compression"

A restart of Alt.Binz is needed to correct this.

I can also confirm that tvbinz is now also affected by this problem. They started using gzip compression on 25th Oct.

I mirrored the tvbinz.net/rss_new.php using feedburner and that works for now until a fix is out.

I use the nodupes=1 switch on their feed normally, although I am not sure I have ever really understood the explanation !!

Adding nodupes=1 to any of the feed urls will filter out all (numbered) duplicate collections from the results.

I will give your feed a try and see how I get on.

nodupes=1 means you don't end up with duplicates

for example if something is posted more then once, it shows like this:

lala.sweetie
lala.sweetie (2)
lala.sweetie (3)

if you add nodupes=1 it shows just the first one

I see the same results as Hecks. The feed shows the releases, but adding to the queue has no effect.
