Works fine here. At what point does the error show? Which search engines are enabled in the dialog?
Edit: I changed the thread title to reflect the bug report more accurately - easier to track this way.
-
I ticked all search engines.
After pressing the search button the error message appears. And the programm freezes.
I didn't have the problem with the older version 0.35.0.
-
Continues to work fine here with all search engines selected. Can you try some trouble-shooting: select just one search engine at a time in Global Search to see if one in particular is causing the problem at your end.
-
Ok tried all engines seperate. All with the same error :(

I think I know what's the problem. Wait for the next version.
-
No problem, thx for your effort.
-
Just to be clear it displays error AFTER you click fill/search/close? And not on showing the form.
And it executes searches fine?
-
Yes only when i use the global search and press one of the 3 buttons the error appears. The manually search in the tabs works fine.
-
Yes, but does it executes searches when you click search (and then it pops up error)
-
No, the altbinz window freezes in the background and it doesn't search anything.
-
hi .. I get the same error !
Not when the search form is loaded but when i click on the "Search" button.
-
I'm having the same issue.
I click the search button, enter a global search query, click search, and then get an Access Violation.
-
0.36.0?
-
Unfortunately i get the error still with the new version :(

0.36.0 same crash problem here using global search.
-
I also get the same error when doing a global search (all search engines checked), even when using a fresh clean install of altbinz. Happened in version previous as well. (v0.35.2). It's proving to be a bugger this one! ;D

Guys, I need feedback from you. As I understood there was a error when you tried to open global search and there was an error when trying to close it or clicking search button or clicking fill button. Am I right?
And I'm interested if the first one is gone?
-
Right, here goes:
1. Open Altbinz
2. Press Ctrl+F to open global search
3. Leave all search engines checked (i.e. NZBSearch, Binsearch, NZB.cc, NZB.su, NZBIndex, Aeton, Yabse, Mysterbin)
4. Enter any text in the drop down combo box.
5. Click Search
6. After clicking an error is raised instantly [Doesn't seem to do anything else]
The error I get is the following:
Access violation at address 0047FE71 in module 'altbinz.exe'. Read of address 0000003AC.
After clicking Ok, I get 2 further errors stating the Access violation but with different addresses, before altbinz has to be forced to close.
The above also happens with a clean install of altbinz.
Do you need any more detail?
-
On further investigation:
Instead of clicking Search and clicking Fill raises this error:
Control 'fillbutton' has no parent window.
Altbinz then has to be forcibly closed after clicking OK.
-
Just tried to click cancel once the global search dialog box appears. This to raises an access violation in the same as clicking search.

And I'm interested if the first one is gone?
-Click search, opens global search pane (normal operation).
-Enter item to be searched (all boxes checked)
-Click 'Search'
-Error box "Access violation at address 0047FE71 in module 'altbinz.exe' Read of address 00000368"
-
To add, unchecking any of the search engines on the global dialog doesn't change any behavior and still raises the error as the same when for clicking the search button.
-
0.36.0 fixed the issue for me.

0.36.0 fixed the issue for me.
Scratch that. I managed to get the error four times now, each with three Access Violation dialogs.
I'm trying to figure out how to reproduce it consistently. I noticed that my download threads appear to hang while the global search is being performed; the errors seem to occur when a download is active. Possibly a race condition?
-
When I click the Global search button, wait for the dialog, and click Cancel, it will eventually give me three Access Violation dialogs and then report that the application has stopped working. Sometimes it takes three tries, sometimes it can take twenty or more, but I have been able to reproduce it eventually every time.
Edit: It doesn't matter whether I have a download active or not.

But never on Global search button? (invoking dialog)
-
But never on Global search button? (invoking dialog)
I haven't experienced that yet; only after clicking Search or Cancel after the dialog has appeared.
-
I just experimented with opening and closing the Global search dialog a couple hundred times and didn't have a problem once, so negative on the crashing dialog.
I held down the Alt key, clicked the Global search button, then tapped F4; repeat.
-
So:
alt+f4 = no error
"Cancel" button = error
What happens with close button in upper right corner?
-
Yes, and I tried that as well; no error.
-
yeah, since today i have the exact problem like kmcknight2001uk.
same error 0047FE71.
are there news about it yet?
cheers,
CF
edit: sorry, wrong version, have installed 0.36.0, but still, same problem...
-
I think I got some new information. Got the same error here on 0.36.0 when global searching.
but a few minutes ago I wanted to check the donate button and as I clicked on the "donate"-button in the popup after clicking "donate" in the main navigation, I got exactly the same 3 errors.
so it has something to do with the popups, not just the global search function.
anyway, great work rdl, i love alt.binz!
-
Yeap, it has to do with slave forms globally.
To eliminate error you have 2 choises: either don't use "LightBusiness" or "Superiority" skin or make sure you use auto focus on main control (setup->UI)
Fix will follow shortly...

Having same issue with the latest 0.36.0 on W7 x64 (English), also had this problem in previous version.
Edit: Fixed by rdl's suggestion above. Change skin and use Auto Focus tab.
Thanks!
-
You don't have to use both. It's either use anything but first and last skin OR mandatory auto focus on main control
