Altbinz cache error (queue.abz)
« on: November 04, 2008, 09:58:43 pm »
when importing many NZB files in altbinz (any version) like 10 NZB or high (i think over 4MB) and start the program it say error and many message appeared say the same thing and the process end automatically after hanging.
This happend to me many time and also when installing windows on my pc,
So i tried all available version of altbinz and the same problem happen again.
i'm using Windows Vista x32 and altbinz 0.28.2

So when i deleted queue.abz and start the program it work fine.

To resolve this bug you can make every NZB files have it's own cache (folder name cache) like TEMP folder.

EXAMPLE:
(Siren_USA_PS2DVD-USA.nzb >>> Siren_USA_PS2DVD-USA.abz)

And remove queue.abz

Clearly as a Registered User you don't have access to versions after 0.25.0 where queue corruption errors have already been addressed.  Version history:

There's little point filing bug reports for 0.25.0 for what should be obvious reasons.  That said, Alt.Binz works fine here and always has in the conditions you decribe (I can't reproduce the bug in 0.25.0).  Perhaps you have memory, drive or antivirus/firewall probs.

I fully agree to what Hecks said.

- You couldn't expect any Bugs to be solved if you're an ILLEGAL User of the Software !
- There is NO such bug, as you've reported (i personally use v0.28.2 and a Queue of more than 150 MB without errors)
- You should really chek your Hardware, OS etc, as the reason for your 'bug' is really caused by something different than the ORIGINAL Version of AltBinz (there's always NO GUARANTEE for a Software to work correctly, if you've got it from illegal/untrustworthy sources, not to mention the risk of a virus/trojan etc, but you've probably already made your own experience with that)

I also see no sense in your 'solution' (or mabe I don't really understand what you've meant).
What's the point of renamng your .nzb files to .abz and deleting the Queue etc. ?
Queue-format is NOT the same as the format of the NZBs, so using a NZb as a Queue would give you errors.
Or do you just meant to import a nzb, close the Prog and store the created queue in another place and just copy it back to 'misc'  folder if it's really needed ?
If you've meant that, wouldn't it be easier to store the NZBs itself in a seperate place and only import them if you really wanna download them, or am I wrong ?  ::)

Well, the best thing that you should do, is just to say sorry to RDL and become a real CONTRIBUTOR.
I think you like AltBinz (else you wouldn't you use it) and therefore you should pay for contibutor-versions as all the others.
Also, to become a Contibutor is not very expensive and in my opinion AltBinz is one of the very few Progs that are REALLY worth the money.

Hmm, sorry should have closed this before - it's already been cleared up via pm.  The OP simply wasn't aware of versions after 0.25.0.
