unrar: problem with passwords
« on: September 10, 2024, 03:39:43 pm »
hi Rdl.

There are 2 problems I have using unrar with passwords (pw).

A. Alt.Binz does not remember pw correct (lower/uppercase problem)

Try:
1. "Add to queue" and enter the right pw "abc"
2. "Add to queue" and enter the right pw "Abc"

Archive will be unpacked but the second pw is not shown in the pw-combobox and will not be remembered.

This last thing is bit frustrating over the time :( and leeds to the 2. problem:

B. How can I delete the wrong pw "abc" from the list?

A hotkey would be fine (Del or Ctrl-Del). Or is there already any?

Thanx very much, especially for the ongoing development.

Fixed both problems. CTRL+Del is the shortcut (same as other comboboxes in various search engines)

Oh, how should I tell this sad story?

Ctrl-Del is working well in history of search box in the button bars. Great surprise   :thumbsup . Maybe I never tried that before. Will be very helpful to get more clearness.
Only missing the Ins (Ctrl-Ins ?) key to mark important search items to stay on top and to be not-deletable. Nice dream I have  :)

In the password-history Ctrl-Del only deletes content of the input-box but not the item in the list (0.48.4.4).  :(

Two ways:
Down or Up to scroll through items in input box and then ctrl+del
Click on button to dropdown list, move mouse over to input box, and then up/down to select item from list and then ctrl+del

And finally you must press OK (or Enter) for action to be saved.

20 last passwords are saved. Reused ones are moved on top of the list. I could raise the limit from 20 to xx?

i tried these ways again.
but still ctrl+del only works in search history. not in password history.

20 passwords are enough (for me).

what i'm dreaming of is to keep often/daily used search terms on the top of search histopry. after entering a lot of new items the top-items move to the end of the list and will be deleted. i know about raising the amount of items. but this is not the same. the idea is to mark/unmark the needed items so that they stay on top. so i do not have to enter the daily search terms again.

What part doesn't work for you?
Can you click on button to see dropdown list? Can you move through list with arrow keys up and down?

Once you click to see dropdown list, do not move mouse, but use arrow keys, and once selected, press ctrl+del.

Regarding dream - stop dreaming? Until more people request that option I won't bother with it.

yes. yes.

i know how to handle that.
pressing ctrl-del in password-history on the chosen item with the focus does not delete it - while it works in search history.
Steps:
1. ...  open password history
2. select item with up/dn keys
3. press ctrl-del
-> clears the edit-box (where i type in the password) while the keyboard focus stays on the item.
-> the password still stays in the list. in search history it disappears.

Same thing with test version  :(

I use wine under debian (win7.32Bit).
Playing around with different wine versions could be a possibility but I don't think this is helpful.
Results under search history (ok) and password history (not ok) should be the same.

I've asked you to test binsearch and nzbindex boxes in test version...
