Hi,
i'm getting this error, when i try to download a single 4 Gb big File. The download is complete but the decoding won't start.
I searched through the forum and tried the solution to exclude the altbinz folder in my Anti Virus Programm. I did that but it didn't work. I'm still getting this locked error in the Log.
Is there any solution for this problem? Thx!
I'm using the latest version.

ok first of all read this: https://www.altbinz.net/wiki/Problem_Solving#My_files_are_stuck_with_status_.22decoding.22._What_can_i_do.3F
if i understand you correct it is a single file with ~4GB size?
if your HDD is FAT32 formated, maximum files size is 4GB. alt.binz can't create the file if it is bigger. you can try changing the download path to a HDD which is formated in NTFS
Also it would be nice to have the exact message from the log (you can change the filename of course)

Hi,
i have NTFS Filesystem so this can't be the problem
I'm getting this message in the log:
[27.09.2008 17:08:50] [Dec] File C:\temp\43cc58166f8c5c853f954b46dd9b7652\part.1 is locked by another program!
[27.09.2008 17:08:50] [Dec] Retrying in 5 seconds
All other downloads are working perfect. Only this big 4,3GB File is not.

maybe your anti virus or firewall or some other program is accesing that files so alt.binz can't modiefy it.
have you tried restarting alt.binz and/or your computer?
-
yes i tried that. as i sad it's only on that file.

Well, this is a mystery. In any case, why not try this unlocking tool (I use it quite a bit):
http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/
Alt.Binz sometimes has a habit of holding on to unrared files, so you can't move/delete them in Explorer without restarting/using Unlocker, but that's not your problem, so who knows ...

Hi,
i tried the Unlocker but the tools says that nothing is locked

If you know all of the temp parts have been downloaded and are stored waiting to decode, but A/B can't decode them for whatever reason, then use a stand alone decoder. The best one I've ever used is called UUD32win by Mark Spankus. It's freeware available from:
http://www.marks-lab.com/
Just drag/drop your temp files onto it, let it assemble the pices, and then hit the "Extract" button.
Cheers,

Hi,
Did you fix your problem? (in case of Yes, how?)

I had a similar problem. I have downloaded one big 4.5GB iso-file. It is just an iso file, no rar's included.
AB = 0.25.0, OS-filesystem=NTFS on WinXP.
After downloading AB just wrote Decoding but nothing happend at all. I did try to exclude the AB's temp-path in my McAfee Antivirus but that did not change anything.
In AB's temp folder was 12192 small files (4.5GB total).
In the log was this message:
[09-11-2008 11:53:43] [Dec] File C:\Programmer\AltBinz\temp\\357d4969b240d5dfed0b014eeb8b9af3\part.1 is locked by another program!
[09-11-2008 11:53:43] [Dec] Retrying in 5 seconds
Note the double \ in the path, this looks strange to me.
I tried various tell-me-who-locked-this-file applications but all of them said the file was not locked. I could also move the entire temp-folder without problem, so I dont think the file actually was locked.
Rebooting and/or changing download-path and downloading the file again to g:\temp did not change anything.
I tried the UUD32 application, dropping all the small tempfiles into UUD32, and that helped :) Now I could extract the iso file from UUD32.
UUD32 did the trick, so I am happy.
I just dont know why AB couldn't do it itself :(

Really too bad you need a 3rd party program to decode files downloaded with Alt.Binz if file is above 4GB.
Other than that its a good freeware program.

Abz usually decodes >4Gb files perfectly fine. Shit happens.
Don't spread FUD, k thx.
