rss fllter adds nzbs in the begining of the queue
« on: September 27, 2008, 11:50:47 pm »
when an rss filter finds some matches it adds them to the queue but at the begining and not in the end, so if the first match starts to download, it is distrusted by the next match which becomes the first....etc..

Matches are added to the end of the queue here (0.28.2) but in the order in which filters are applied to each batch of new entries, as you'd expect.  Maybe there should be an option to toggle a reverse on this (in practice it should make little difference).  But that would be something for the Requests forum.

There's little point posting 'bugs' for 0.25.0, which is now a year old ....

Maybe cause 'First in queue' is checked?

Actually, I think I know what he meant... though no more than a slight annoyance at best. Sometimes RSS will pick up a number of items before the previous rss items are downloaded (they may or may not have been from the same batch... I don't watch it continually). This results in item1 being downloaded 20% then being ignored... for item2 which was added later (minutes later?).

Actually, now that I'm thinking about it, I seem to remember something about the rss items being added one item per minute... to avoid hammering the server. Maybe this is what is causing it. Item 1,2,3 get found in one batch, but are added one minute apart, ending with the order item 3,2,1 with 10% (or other amount) done of 1, and 2? Either that or they are separate batches.

It would be nice ... if nothing more than solving an annoyance: if the 'first in queue' would be changed (or split to two options). The new option would have altbinz keep an array (not shown) of recently downloaded rss items. When the new option is chosen, altbinz would check each item in the download queue from top to bottom, adding the collection to the first non-rss line.

Anyway, would be nice, probably go better in requests... but this post reminded me of it... and I'm lazy :)

first in queue waa checked and i didnt realt knew what it was for. is it on by default after install? if so than maybe it should be off by default, as a queue is FIFO :-)
i havn't checked yet to see if unchecking it had any effect.

something else i noticed is that there was an error on the name column (sort order???)
maybe it has some effect because of that? although clicking the col title does not sort....
more than that..FYI if clicking the group col header, the arrow removd from the name col to the group but than u can't sort again any other col, it stays on the group col...

some other problem related to rss (didnt want to open multiple posts) there are time that the rss filter dl a few items and put them in the queue, but some stay in the rss list, sometime they re green sometimes not 9even if there is a valid filter for them whcih worked before). trying to dl them again (i think i tryed manually), there was some error (dont remember exactly what) that the socket was busy. so i guess there was some lock on the socket dl rss items, i dont know if it is the same object dl the messages, but ovously the one dl rss items but busy/locked. i think only alt.binz restart solved the problem.
it happened more than once...

I don't see that column sort arrow on latest version (0.28.2). It is probably a bug on the free version (0.25)...or i'm just not looking at the right thing.

Also, resorting rss is pointless; rss is for auto-downloading, and making sure nothing was missed. It is not meant to replace the search tabs. If you need to list sort latest collections then just search for a blank string on many of the (non working in free) search tabs.

its in 0.28.2. maybe "sort by subject when importing" has to do with it?> donne...
and arrow is there. at least until you click the group column. this has nothing to do with the search tabs , i dont use them
