Incomplete downloads?
« on: May 12, 2007, 04:36:10 am »
Hi,

Sometimes when I'm downloading using an NZB file, the rar parts aren't the full size. altbinz says that the download is at 100%, however the files are by no means complete.

Is there a way to re-download the NZB and make altbinz only download the missing bytes? I really hate restarting a 1.5GB download just because it improperly downloaded the file. I'm getting my NZB files from newzbin, which says the sizes of the files are greater than the downloaded versions.

This post begs many questions, but let's start with the obvious: by "incomplete" do you mean that you're not able to unrar them?  If you can, then Newzbin is just reporting the wrong file sizes, or it's a 1MB = 1024 KB etc issue.  If not, first check that you're getting all of the article parts from your server (read the log), then come back with any more questions.

I have exactly the same problem.
I think the reason is that the program alt binz is buggy.

Since you're the only two users who've ever reported this problem, then I think not.  My questions above still stand, but I'll ask again: does the the unrar fail?  If so, what does the log report?

same problem over here, i download and cant extract it couse the file is not complete. Also altbinz won't download par files.
I tried this :

got a NZB file and downloaded it with alt binz
after that i took the same nzb and downloaded it with newsleecher.
Both had the same servers but altbinz said 100% but it wasn't compleet and newsleecher got all the files compleet even without having to download the extra pars ????

Also the program dousn't unrar or repair the missing files.
Checked all the settings but they where ok.

Altbinz is calculating what is been downloaded so far, the completeness of it, and the need of downloading par-repairfiles.
If the incompleteness is to high, Alt.binz will not download any par2-repairfiles, because it has no use, they never come to a complete whole.
The par2-checkfile is the trigger in it.

Downloading incompletes all the time by using more then one server, must have a cause, especially when one program make a good job of it, and a other won't.

Can you describe how you setup your servers in Alt.binz?
Using more then one server, servers need te be combined in a special way.
If not, errors occur in the way you and others described.

You must combine them Marcel.
Each primary has to be a backup of a other primary, look at the link I provide, look at part  2)
