Adding to queue sometimes doesn't work

Hi!

When adding something to the queue from the Newzleech results, it very often happens that the selected items are not added to the queue and no error is displayed or logged! It mostly happens when I select a large posting - I guess it has something to do with the Newzleech server being busy. When I add the posting from a Firefox window, it mostly works right away, but sometimes Newzleech responds that it's busy (or too many articles selected).

So obviously, getting the nzb from Newzleech can fail quite often and Alt.Binz doesn't report any error when that happens! That's quite inconvenient, because I now have to check the queue all the time after adding something to it to see if it really has been added.

Maybe Alt.Binz could display a message or somehow clearly indicate it when the add operation has failed?

PS: I saw you closed the thread about Windows 7 Beta. I think it's a huge mistake not to support the new Windows even at its early stage, because it already works much better that Vista and many of people are changing to Win7 already! I'm sure it's just a matter of a few small adjustments to Alt.Binz to make it Win7 compatible and if you don't do this, you'll lose a lot of donations for sure...

What do you mean by "nope"? It does!

Here's how to reproduce it: search in the Newzleech tab of Alt.Binz for "bd-mp", then select the 41.3 GB post, right-click and "Add to queue". Then wait while Alt.Binz tries to get the articles (the "Search" button is gray) and when it's finished ("Search" is black again) there's nothing on the queue! And no error whatsoever!

This happens for me in about 80% of the cases (especially with large postings and when the Newzleech server is heavily loaded). Sometimes it works fine though.

So now don't tell me that this doesn't happen or any bs comments like "nope", because this is happening!

Well.. I just tried this for myself. Maybe it was luck, maybe not.
But it took me about 10-15 seconds to show up in the queue.

Here too! In both, 32 and 64bit version.

Works fine for me too, despite the fact that the NZB is 15 MB.  Really, how often do you download NZBs of that size, anyways?  Newzleech does not fail in 80% of cases, and neither you nor anyone but Karnage knows when the server is "heavily loaded".

That said, if you look through the Newzleech forum, you'll see that it's being updated and the db is in the process of being optimized this month.

just to put in my two bits, this thing happened to me somewhere around 0.28.2-0.28.3, but thats when they where messing around with their db/layout/etc.

as for error messages, iirc you'll see the [No results] turn into [Aborted] if it fails.
yeah I know, very sudtle, but it's there...

I haven't had this problem since then (or if I have, it's so rare that I don't remember about it).
newzleech is at a bad time right now, several times it wont give any results for the past few hours, I hope the upgrades/redesigns are worth it


I do have a similar issue with binsearch results not queuing the rars (only .nfo .par2 + recovery) but I think that's a search engine issue not altbinz one.

sometimes happens for me too, getting nzb from tvnzb via RSS doesn't work (according to other thread it's a tvnzb's problem), it looks like it's working but queue stay empty. importing from nzb file and other search engines works fine.

OK, I think we've established that this has nothing to do with Alt.Binz.
