Title: Speed problems
Post by: gigurtsis on June 08, 2008, 01:16:11 am
I am using v 0.28. It isn't maxing out my connection. I am using giganews unlimited, and so have set the maximum connections to 20, and am using ssl. my connection is 12Mb/s, but alt.binz only ever uses 9.8Mb/s max. I have set the speed to no limit, the decoder thread to lowest and download thread to highest. I also have newsrover, and using this, downloing the exact same files I get 12Mb/s. Is there any way to speed alt.binz up? I have tried with my firewall, zone alarm off and there is no change.

Alt.Binz will always use the maximum bandwidth available to it.  I would test some more for a few days to see if the different results are consistent - under identical conditions, of course.  Probably a good idea to measure actual dl speed with a third-party tool, as well.

I agree, measure speed with an independent app to compare more accurately.

It seems to have fixed itself now, must have been a problem with the network. Thanks for the help.
