Howdy. I dislike complaining about free things, but I have absolutely no reason to donate for Alt.Binz, it seems.
I have looked about the fora here, (I like to use "fora" as the plural for "forum" because it is) and can see nothing which might indicate that donating for a newer version of alt.binz might improve the uselessness of this once pretty impressive software. No listing of features supported by the newer donate-only versions.
Version 25.0 does, as nearly as I can tell, nothing.
Well, I imagine if I downloaded some nzb's I could use it to get them, but I can do that in tin or xnews manually.
Am I missing something? Can someone suggest why I might want to donate?
I installed alt.binz in 2007 and thought it was pretty excellent.
Now, though, none of the searches work (are these fixed in the new versions? No way to tell from the fora!), I can't browse a newsgroup and tag files.
Nothing.
Oh, well. It seems if I were a contributor, only then could I find out whether it would be worth it to be a contributor.
But I have very little motivation to do so if all I'd learn is that the newer versions are as useless as the one I now have installed.

Did you read this one? http://altbinz.net/index.php?page=vhistory

Actually, I did.
It appears that a bunch of bugs have been fixed.
No indication of whether the program is still useless or not, though.
Do the search tabs work? Are they still broken? No way to know.
Lots of people saying "+1" on the links in the version history.
Ah, well.

Another useless thread. Move on to tin.

2. well then you didn't read it thoroughly
3. loose that anoyed and complaining tone in which you ask people to explain something to you which you could easily have figure out by yourself if you hadn't been to lazy to pay proper attention to what you were reading.
