Title: AltBinz Backup Server Behaviour?
Post by: betaflye on August 12, 2011, 10:47:36 pm
I am wondering how the behaviour of backup servers work. If a primary fails does it try another primary server? Can you have multiple fillservers?

My ISP provides access to usenetserver with a limited retention and I have a supernews account. I also have blocks at astraweb and blocknews. I would like to use my ISPs newserver and supernews as primary servers and have the client try the backup servers if a piece is not found.

You can setup 2 primary servers with multiple backups:

-ISP
 |
 -Astra
 -Blocknews

-Supernews
 |
 -Astra
 -Blocknews

But logical thing to do in your case would be one primary with 3 backups

-Supernews
 |
 -ISP
 -Astra
 -Blocknews
