Title: Automatically connect and begin download
Post by: columbo on March 30, 2008, 11:33:43 pm
I have altbinz associated with all of my .nzb files, and for awhile...every time I would double click an nzb, it would automatically import into altbinz and begin downloading.

For some reason, it stopped doing that, forcing me to press the Connect button on altbinz (which I often forget) in order to begin the download.

I've gone over every setting i can think of, and found no answer. Any help is greatly appreciated.

just leave the Connect button pressed.

or if launching Alt.Binz:

Setup > Miscellaneous > Start > Autopush Connect

Make sure that:

Setup > Connection > Connected while idle

is left unchecked.

I am not sure I understand so allow me to ask: if I leave unchecked, does it mean it will automatically connect whenever necessary? either because I start downloading manually or because the RSS feed does?
I can stay connected all the time but I think it is more news provided friendly and would allow if I am on the road to download from a different IP if needed while leaving main PC on.

Yes, if Connect button is enabled by whatever means first. Uncheck 'connected while idle' means that Alt.Binz will automatically connect server threads when something unpaused exists in queue, then disconnect when done - but only if global Connect button is enabled & global Pause is disabled.

This is quite intuitive and you can see it working for yourself via the commandline with the netstat command.
