Title: Dumping my mind
Post by: dacaid on August 20, 2012, 09:14:16 pm
Hi there,

Today i ran onto that : How to Build Your Own Usenet Indexer (http://www.howtogeek.com/120285/how-to-build-your-own-usenet-indexer)
And as usenet always ring an altbinz bell, i just wondered... what if...
- what if rdl secretly built his own usenet search indexer
- what if alt.binz allowed the use of "custom newznab server"
- what if i cross santa AND a clever blonde in a elevator?

just throwing that to you, anyone can catch...

Old post but I'm running a Newznab indexer myself. Too bad I can't use Altbinz to search my own indexer. Newsnab is a great program but it relies on a very weak method to put "stuff" into the index. It uses regular expressions, which are great but really not for sifting through thousands of lines of "stuff" from usenet. I run my indexer just for a hobby. I can find a lot more stuff by just manually searching the groups.
