I've been using the last free version of AltBinz up until last week when I finally donated and now using 0.33.4. Tis great, should have done it a long time ago.
Any way, all has been running great for the last week until last night. I had about 20gb of files in download queue for night downloading. The first 9gb came down fine as normal but since then all the rar files have downloaded but not decoded. They are decoding but extremely slowly, like 5-10 min per 50mb rar file. Decoding tends to go in bursts, it can sit there doing nothing for 30sec-1min then go from 20% to 23% to 25% to 27% at about 1 sec intervals, then stop again. Normally it would decode the whole 50mb file in about a second. I increased the Decoder Thread Priority to Highest and it made no difference. I re-booted the PC, re-started Altbinz and that made no difference. Also, while it in its waiting mode, there is nothing else I can do on the PC, web pages wont open, apps wont run, etc. Though checking in Task Manager, there is only about 1% CPU utilization and 1.6gb of memory usage.
An old 500gb HD that I use for data storage died yesterday and I replaced it with a new Seagate 2TB HD. I assume its a new one with 4kb cluster size. Could this be the problem? Although Altbinz is not using this HD, its just in my PC.
Spec, I run a i7 860 on a Gigabyte MB, 4 gb mem, nVidia 9800gt, Windows 7 32bit and use Avira Prem antivirus. I run a clean PC and never have virus problems.
I assume the problem is not with AltBinz itself but maybe some incompatibly. Any suggestions as what is the cause of the problem would be appreciated. Thanks, p.
