Hi, I upgraded today from version 0.25 to 0.31.2 and i noticed that the speed i get is about one fifth of my max isp speed (time for download to finish increases about 5 times too).
When i open the old version speed is just fine.
I cannot figure out what's wrong since the settings are exactly the same in the new version as i had them in the old one.

Just to be sure, use clean config with 0.31.2 and post results

i don't exactly understand what you mean by clean config, but i removed version 0.25.0 rebooted my pc and run 0.31.2 again but i still download with the same slow speed.
-
Did you retain 0.25.0 config?
-
when i run 0.31.2 the settings were already there so i'm guessing yes.
how do i bring the config to the default so i can manually change them myself?
-
Exit alt.binz
Delete misc dir form alt.binz folder if it's there.
Then go to c:\Users\your_username\AppData\Local\Alt.Binz and delete misc dir from there.
Start alt.binz
Configure it.
-
Ok just did that and it's the same.
max download speed goes to 200 kb/s (a bit of improvement from the 130 kb/s it went previously) but fluctuates up and down all the time where with 0.25.0 it went up to about 650 kb/s and was stable at that speed.

Well all I can think of is firewall messing with nntp traffic. Maybe you made rule for 0.25 which doesn't apply to new version since md5 of the file doesn't match
-
well i disabled my firewall but still no change.
anyways i'm switching back to 0.25.0 where i know everything works ok
thanks anyways.

as a last try
how about this:
try installing altbinz .25 on an other drive configure if it works fine and just replace the exe with the one of 0.31.2.

Nope didn't seem to work either. Same speed problem.
I guess I'm not destined to use any new version (same behavior with 0.31.1).
Thanks again.

I'm 99% sure it's firewall. I've seen few cases where disabling firewall didn't help

i removed the rule and redefined it when i was asked by my firewall for the new version, but still the same.
i'm puzzled myself i'm not sure what else to do.
uninstall my firewall program?
anyways for now i'll keep using 0.25.0 i don't have any patience today to try anything else ;)

I solved the speed problem.
In server settings (using Secure Server) I changed the port from 563 to 443 and everything works fine. :)

Glad to hear it
