Title: 0.35.2 How-to Install?
Post by: markus4caz on February 25, 2011, 06:18:48 am
I recently contributed, to take advantage of the latest version available to contributors - 0.35.2. I still have the latest free version 0.25.0 installed, and it shows up in Windows Add/Remove Programs.

There appears not to be an installer program for 0.35.2 archive that I downloaded, so that's the first problem I have.

Second problem is if I just execute the new 'altbinz.exe' I get the following Windows error message:

alt.binz UID: altbinz.exe - Entry Point Not Found - The procedure entry point ConvertToGlobalHandle could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll.

I then click OK to that, and the application opens.

Also the newer version does not appear in Windows Add/Remove Programs, so clearly it is not 'installed'.

Help would be appreciated.

simply extract the rar file (or at least the exe within) in the programm folder of AltBinz 0.25 and it should work. Don't get thrown of by windows AltBinz is installed even if it doesn't show up in the add/remove list.

OK Thanks David - I've done that, and still have the remaining problem of the Windows error mentioned in my original post. Definitely not normal, and not nice to have it popping up every time I start the program.

Any clues - anyone?

Regards,

Windows XP Pro 2002 SP3
Wndows Fiewall - disabled

I could not find anything relevant in the Wiki, hence posting this question.

what i can tell u i that this is not a comun error for altbinz to produce. after a litlle search i found this:

http://pcsupport.about.com/od/findbyerrormessage/a/kernel32dll.htm

maybe on of the steps mentioned could fix the error.
