.001 files = nothing happens
« on: November 02, 2010, 04:41:29 pm »
Hi.

I just upgraded to the latest alt.binz (which rocks btw), but I am now facing some problem which I dont recall having with 0.25:

I am dowloading a disk image split it parts ending with .001, .002 etc. I usually use 7Zip to combine them when downloaded,
but even though Alt.Binz downloaded the part fully, it is 'stuck' on 'decoding' (and will refuse to close properly).

The part file does not appear in the download or the unrar folder, instead it sits in the temp folder, in a folder called something like 7af057565dc63b9239b4a210ab9cac9f. All the 261 message making the part are there, named part.1 through to part.261

Nothing happens.
What should I do? (using W7, not Admin mode)

Thanks.

Nik

First check your Log for related messages, then post your settings here for Setup -> Connection -> Article Not Found box.

Thank you.

The problem (from the log file) is the following:
[Dec} Exception: Cannot create file "" The filename is too long.
I understand why now. Thanks. (logging was off)

Connection Options says:

[422.430] Article Not Found [/502]

I found a way to rename the whole archive, but it does not affect the individual parts inside.
Can you please suggest a solution?

Thanks again,

Nik

download_path+collection_name+filename shouldn't be longer then 255 chars.
You can change first 2

Excellent thank you.
I changed the collection name to "baba" and restarted alt.binz and voilĂ , all the files decoded OK.

Thanks a million for the awesome support.
