New "curly bracket" password function - syntax?
« on: July 17, 2013, 12:33:16 pm »
Hi all

I can't get the new "curly bracket" password function from the latest version to work yet- I tried setting up nzb files as stated/suggested in

https://www.altbinz.net/forum/closed-requests/usage-of-passwords-in-curly-brackets-to-handle-pw-protected-files/

but it won't unrar the corresponding files automatically.

Is there an option that needs to be enabled first or a different syntax that needs to be used?

Setting up unrar password and unraring automatically are 2 different things. Which one bothers you?

It's the auto unpack function (with passworded files) that I'm after.

Auto unpacking works for files that are not password protected and for protected files for which I manually set a password in the queue window.

If I understood correctly from the other post, regarding the new function, it'd be possible to add the required password in curly brackets of the corresponding nzb file and AltBinz would use it automatically to unpack it after the download.

I tried to do that, but the downloaded rar files stay compressed & protected in the download folder.

Edit
Used it like this: "filename{{heresthepassword}}.nzb"

Will do- but I just noticed something while preparing it for you:

I downloaded the initial nzb and I renamed it to shorten it's length- then I added the password after it.

The included, protected, rar files therefore have a different filename than the nzb- since I shortened it before.

Is it possible that AltBinz doesn't pick up on the downloaded files because the nzb "filename" portion is now different than the names of the downloaded files?

Example:
Downloaded: holidayvideo-omgwearesocool.nzb
Renamed it to: holiday{{password}}.nzb
Downloaded Filenames: holidayvideo-omgwearesocool.rar, holidayvideo-omgwearesocool.r00, ...

Doesn't make sense.
Once you import nzb check in download queue is password is set (unrar column) If there is * there - password is set. Press shift+ctrl+p to change password. Password should be clearly visible.

If all that is ok, next step is to let par2 file be imported to par2 tab. You can then see exactly the same way as before if unrar password is set for that par2 set (* in unrar column)

Sorry, didn't get a chance to keep digging here earlier.

I noticed that AltBinz seemed to have stopped picking up files for unpacking alltogether (so not just the passworded ones)- the par queue just showed some cryptic filenames with a filesize of "0" whenever I added something.

So I removed AltBinz including the user profile in the Windows user directory and set it up again- and now it's all working fine, including the "curly bracket" unpacking function.

Something else must've caused a hickup on the way, all good now.
Thanks for looking into it with me.
