Clarification on rules of altbinz installations
« on: July 31, 2013, 01:39:35 am »
Hi Rdl,

Can I install alt.binz on more than 3 computers but only be running the program on only 3 computers at any time?

I intend to have 2 desktop at 2 locations which I will run alt.binz permanently and occasionally I will alternately use 1 of 2 laptops & run alt.binz for short periods.

I could not find an exact answer to this question. I have searched the forums & alt.wiki with & google. Please direct me to the relevant forum link & I apologize for wasting your time if I missed something.

https://www.altbinz.net/forum/help-5/questions-about-contributors-version-(-3-computer-limit-)/msg14404/#msg14404 states that this is determined by computer ID hash - this was pointed out by Davidq666. Does this mean alt.binz is tied to a particular computer setup permanently? This makes transfer to another computer difficult without prior notification/permission; is this correct?

No, just stop using it on one computer and continue on another.
