Alt Binz locks PC :(

Hi all,


New to these forums, and I looked around and couldn't find anything quite relating to the problem I'm having.  I'm currently using the following

Alt binz: 0.31.3
Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit

The problem, as the title suggests is basically that after a few mins of downloading (time varies) my PC will lock up.  I've narrowed it down to Alt binz because well, it only happens when I'm downloading with alt binz.  The usual occurance is when I'm downloading a large post, such as a TV series season, or a high quality 4gb+ movie or some such, it's a guarantee that at some point, alt binz will lock up the PC.

It doesn't happen when I download large Torrent files or downloading large files through any other means, only Altbinz and newsgroups.  I've tried doing a clean format of my machine and fresh install of everything and it still occurs which is quite annoying as I love altbinz and this didn't start happening until the past few weeks.  I can't paste a log file as such because I dont think one is stored due to the lock up of the pc (if I'm wrong then let me know where to find the log file and I'll post it asap)

I've run memtest and everything is all fine on that end, all my other applications run fine so I'm really at a loss as to what to do.

Any help would be much appreciated.

the log is at .../AltBinz/log but the apropiate boxes need to be checked in Settings->Log
how much ram does ur system have?
how much chache did u enter in Settings->Download #2?

I didn't reall configure the client much other than changing the download speed and download locations the rest of it is pretty much as standard.  I'll post the log once it crashes again, as for the cache in the settings > Download 2 it's currently 0.

Running with 6GB of RAM currently.

Well that crash didn't take long to occur.  You can see the log file here: http://jinxpad.com/jinx/20100106.log

As you can see the download only went on for 4 mins, sometimes it goes on for longer but its always guaranteed to crash it seems.

thats weird there is nothing unusal in the log... maybe someone else has a clue what it could be

After you mentioned the cache, I read up about it a little and set it to 300, it seems to be working without a hitch now   I'll post again if it doesnt completely solve the problem

Looks like it doesn't, I'm getting crashes still, what is strange however it doesn't seem to crash while im gaming... while I guess this is a workaround, it doesn't really solve my problem

Any other ideas?
