« on: August 15, 2008, 10:38:04 am »
Hi there,

Sorry if I write something not new but al the post i found where from 2007 and earlyer.
I use Alt.Binz. 0.25.0 on Windows XP with Avast antivirus. And normaly with no problem at all.

But I wasn't writing this if there wasn't one know.

It looks liked it stopped with decoding in the middle of a downloaded dvd. He had allready come to file 71 I have now more then 2 Gb on my temp dir. that will not decode anymore.

What I allready tried:
. Restart Alt.Binz
. Reinstall Alt.Binz
. Change download dir. and restart.
but still no progress.

Here by a piece of my log.

To force decoding of the files in your temp directory, use the manual yenc decoder linked in this thread:

https://www.altbinz.net/forum/index.php?topic=1489.0

As for the other thing: Alt.Binz should only shut down when downloading is finished if you've toggled the Shutdown button (options are in Setup > Miscellaneous #2).

I tried this little piece of software and it worked. after that I manualy deleted the still in Alt.Binz standing files to be decode and connected again.
To my suprise it all began working again. He also decoded the files automaticaly.
I still don't understand why this happend but it works again.

As for the other thing: Alt.Binz should only shut down when downloading is finished if you've toggled the Shutdown button (options are in Setup > Miscellaneous #2).

I looked it up and in my setup the shutdown toggle is not on.
So why Alt.Binz is shutting down itself at some points is beyond my knowledge.

Anyway thaks for helping me out.

Greetings,

Martin

I cant tell anything from the log, maybe someone else can. However it did happen to myself once... and was able to track it down. You may want to check permissions on the directory, files, and locked handles. If the 2GB was a whole download, did the directory get created as expected? What is the permissions of the parent directory? Does it happen all the time? or just that once?

In my case, i had tried to play something I had downloaded in BS player, and realized it was failed so I hit stop, forgetting to close bsplayer. One of the failed files happened to be the .rar file. When I re-downloaded it, it got to the decoding stage, sat on 99% and would not complete. I then realized I had bsplayer running still and closed it, giving altbinz a few minutes to retry. It never did, so I deleted the file from the queue and repaired it from pars.

This should probably be fixed by a popup with retry/cancel. "File locked, fix the problem and retry." This should of course be done in a way that it does not interfere with background tasks.
