Slow download-speed
« on: July 14, 2009, 01:22:23 pm »
thanks I just tried this new version but it does not work well for me. I'm using window XP3, when using this new version on SSL, it's very slow, only 1/3 of my speed. The old version works fine for me though (0.25). Sometimes it's full speed other time, very slow. What have I done wrong?

I used SSL for both old and new version. With old version, all working fine except for search function. The latest version sometimes can run at full speed, other times just at 1/3 to 1/4 of my max speed. When trying to disconnect (click on connect button), it still download

yes, I have now switched back to old version. Now and then I still run new version to check and it's still the same. I have not changed any default setting except for download folder :'(

just to make sure the settings are identical u could copy everything in the folder of the 0.25.version except the exe and paste it in the the new location... did u try a fresh 0.31.1 install already?

No, mine is dual. I'm running full at 40-50kb/s
I'll try .28 and feedback

Have tried 0.28.5 and it's still same slow speed. Theold version is still going strong at full speed  :'(
The only thing I can see in difference is the old version is properly installed in window and can be seen in control panel..add or remove program while the new versions are not

did you try to delete the full directory and reinstall last version from scrap ?
Because changing only .exe might mix your settings and result in various issues (happened to me already, random crashes, bad behaviours, icons at wrong place etc..

There is absolutly nothing different regarding SSL between 0.25.0 and 0.28.5. Few changes were introduced in 0.3x.x
And more will come in next version.

Keep in mind that in some countries ISP's are fiddling around with prioritizing some kinds of traffic (e.g. "real time" http, voip etc over non distinctive protocols or secured connections). We had our share of that over here, turned out that one of the bigger ISP's in my country was shaping traffic way too aggressively on most hours of the day (took a couple of months to have them admit it  >:( )

So there's also a fair possibility that it just isn't Alt.Binz having a problem, but your ISP preventing you from getting your max download.
