Weird: Ultra-Slow Download Speed
« on: July 17, 2010, 06:11:29 pm »
Just done a clean re-install of Windows 7 x64 and re-installed Altbinz. I'm completely unable to connect to news.easynews.com and I get a paltry download speed from secure.news.easynews.com. It fluctuates between 25K per second to around 115K if I am lucky. Speed is very variable.

Set to 10 threads, and no limit.

I have a 15mbps connection and can max out easily at 1.7MB/s with Altbinz before I did the re-install.

No problem with Unzbin. Full speed there but Altbinz is the client of choice.

What am I doing wrong? ???

I ran into the same problem, except I'm using Giganews as my server and Windows 7/32bit.

I had been running 0.31.1 and moved up to 0.31.6 to see if it helped any. No luck.

edit: I'm only using the Windows Firewall (and have not changed any settings). Looking through the forum I've noticed several threads with the same issue of slow download speeds since around march. Curious if an update to Windows Firewall added something that I (or we) have not caught.
