Hi,
several files that I downloaded overnight have not unrarred I have done them manually and the files were all complete and unrarred fine. I haven't chnged any program settings either and have sufficient disk space.
Any ideas?
Thanks
-
so they did decode but didn't unrar?
were ther par files included?
are there any relevant log entries?
-
They didn't decode and small par2 file was present as were par2 files in queue.
Looking at log, I have the following entry:-
[19/06/2010 10:36:23] [PAR2&Unrar] Error[12]corrupt data
[19/06/2010 10:36:23] [PAR2&Unrar] "blah.rar" unrar failed
Thanks
-
they must have decoded because there were files u could unrar manualy, if they hadn't decoded there would have been no files in the dl folder. was there a repair before it tried to unrar?
-
Hi,
yes, my mistake, they didn't unrar. ALso as I said all files were complete so repair wasnt needed.
-
I'm not sure what the question is. The Log shows par2 corruption error. Alt.Binz won't unrar unless par2 check passes.
-
yeah but why was there no attempt repair and why could he unrar manualy without a problem?
so i do see the confusion, but no clear way yet how to solve that mystery...
if the collection was indeed complete but failed to unrar, logic would say the problem lies with the parchecking. do u remember if ther were there any partial rars? you know where it says part34 and part34.1 and each part contains a certain portion of the blocks part 34 is supposed to contain?

I had restarted AB, so that was the only one left in the log, but all other files about 20 exhibted the same behaviour.
With that being said, I downloaded a few short test files today and they unrarred OK, so maybe it was just a blip.
Cheers.
-
Im not sure sorry David and the files have been deleted now.I'll monitor the situation and inform you if it reoccurs.
thanks

the log doesn't get lost with a restart u can find it in the AB/log named after the date in the fashion yyyymmdd

You mean if you have log to file enabled? I didnt unfortunately.
Also, now I come to think of it, in the par2 tab, i had all the films listed. Later when I tried to delete them, they didn't.
Instead they remained but the name was ghosted. Does that mean anything?

you should enable it can be helpfull from time to time... no that ghosting it quite commun it happens quite often AB is busy with somthing for example: unraring parchecking repairing or copying something with explorer.

It seems the problem here was corruption of the par2 files themselves. Should be reproducible if so.
-
Yes, but many of the files didnt need pars as were complete. A whole TV series failed to unrar, but worked fine for me when done manually.

yeah but the pars are not only needed for repairing but for unraring aswell at leat one that is. but i don't think it's a corrupt par2 because most of the time a corupt par2 simply doesn't apear in the par2 tab at all...
-
Hi,
same problem reoccurring even with completes. I logged as you suggested, but where can the log be found
Ta
-
The Log tab and/or the log directory in your user directory or Alt.Binz directory, depending on your setup.
You'll need to clarify your problem, as the OP refers to both decoding and unraring, which aren't the same thing. If it's unraring that's the problem, restart Alt.Binz to see if it shifts, otherwise read through this and the many other threads about par2 & unrar. yEnc decoding of articles is another issue.
-
Sorry, I meant unrarring, not decoding.
I have restarted of course and same issue remains. Par2 checking and unrarring are set up correctly as they have been working for a long time.
I'm going to attach a log for a file which I don't think unrarred. How should I attach it?
Thanks
-
just upload the log file somewhere and post the link...
-
Thanks, David. Here we go.

Looks to me that the problem you are having is that some articles are missing from your providers server
You are using a high retry count i seems. That will cause alt.binz to stall if the article won't show up.
set rety count to 0 (setup -> connection) and it should be fine.
-
The log doesn't show that unrar failed, which is what I thought the issue was.
The missing articles are few and far between for a 553 day old post.
There are a few retries but I don't see a high number of them. Set retry count to 0 anyway.
You don't want to see code 502 errors in a log, and this log is full of them. Back off from 20 simultaneous connections in the setup.
-
I could have posted the wrong one perhaps ???
Retry count was set to 0 already.
How many connections would you recommend then?
Ta
-
The answer to that is: only as many as it takes to max out your dl speed. For most, this will be no more than 8-10, but YMMV.
-
Hi,
similar issue again. It downloaded but not unrarred. After checking there were sufficient pars, but these were not downloaded. I did this manually and file unrarred successfully.
Any idea why as this is quite an annoyance.
Thanks

OK, next time it happens, before you manualy download, please do this:
take a screenshot of:
setup->par2
setup->unrar
Download queue, problematic collection expanded(all paused par2s visible) with visible size
Par2 tab with problematic par2 set visible
-
Hi,
there was another one in the queue the same. Quickpar says 160 blocks missing, which the pars should cover easily.
Caps upped here. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=O2EPO1MN
Thanks

Based on this pictures either par2 thread went south or majority of files were corrupted or you didn't download majority of files.
All I see are blocks up to r18.
To check if par2 thread is stuck try to delete par2 set from par2 tab or add new par2 set IN THE SAME SESSION (not once you've closed alt.binz and restarted it.)
-
All did download but there were a few in-completes, like I said 160 blocks missing. Did as you said but, it hasn't started. Obviously I can do a manual repair, but would like to get to the bottom of why this keeps reoccurring.
