Have you made a proper server setup?
More information on that and other things can be obtained here

This is where you can find information on the health and status of the servers.

Current Status: All servers online and running normally.

Free Server: The free servers are currently offline for the weekend.

i don't think it's the freeservers

before i went on vacation it worked well. then when i came back and tried, it always connects if all are paused, but as soon as i unpause a nzb, it will "flicker" OK in the status bar for a few times, then say connecting.

Try again Monday, or when the status page linked above changes, which ever comes first.

Personally I do not know any reliable FREE News Servers. If that is what you are looking for.

As for the cheapest, semi-reliable, news server that I have found is http://www.iusenet.com/?100ProofNews. It is called Iusenet now, but used to be called 100 Proof News. It does have 100+ days retention and provide SSL if needed.

But I am sure others can help out with more reliable servers, just replying to your request with the News Server I use.

a bit cheaper than i usenet but seemingly with speedproblems above 6 Mbit is hitnews... if you want good retenion posibilities but a bit cheaper take hitnews/iusenet and as a backup a 10 Gb block acount from newsfeeds.com (150 days retention). giganews is the reference but not quite cheap, i personaly got used to ssl encryption so the giganews ssl flat costs 30 $ thats to much for me... but judge acording to your needs...

block:

flat:

this is the same thing that happens to me.
I just hadnt used it in maybe a few days. Then I got a new computer. and moved all my files accounts/passwords to my new computer and my alt.biz does the flashy 0% thing.
I think that it has to do with the servers because usually I log in it tells me COnected & Authenticated, while now it says only "Conected."
and after queing any file, it just flashes 0% like it was going to conect but decided not to tell me some inmortant info and is stuck like that.

As always, all answers are in log. Maybe you should enter your user/pass?

have been using alt.binz for a long time, well anway I use Usenet, and they never required a login/password befor.
log says its giving me a status code: 480
and again in the log it says Im conected but I dont see anywehere about authenticatd or asking for a password/login.
