Downloads not actually downloading
« on: March 18, 2008, 12:19:41 am »
I'm having an issue where alt.binz will work for a while, but sometimes when i go to download, i'll only end up with a 254kb file, instead of the entire file i was hoping to get.  The download appears to go all the way through, only it doesn't tell me how fast im downloading, yet the progress bars goes at the speed i'd predict and just by watching the bottom i can tell that im downloading at my normal speed of 1200 kb/s.  I've come to the conclusion that the files im attempting to download either aren't there, or i've reached some sort of download cap.  My ISP is RoadRunner, if that helps.  Thanks for any feedback on what this problem might be!

We need more info than that, starting with any relevant messages in your log (set to Detailed).

If you see lots of 'Article not found' messages in your log and you're certain that the file isn't older than your server's retention limit (check with your NSP), try playing with Setup > Servers > 'Select group' or 'ARTICLE cmd' options to see if that clears up your problem.  But you say it "works for a while", so it may be something else - a bad post, for example.  You can check this by trying the same NZB with another newsreader, or post its exact name here.
