Cleaning up download folders
« on: October 10, 2010, 04:30:52 pm »
Hi,

I've always had Alt.binz set (on the UnRAR tab) to delete everything after successfully unRARing... archives, SFV, MKD, and empty folders. Also have it set to move any JPG, NFO, and AVI files to the unRAR folder. But lately, it seems to be ignoring some of these settings. I wind up still having a folder for each downloaded item in my main downloads folder. Many of the folders ARE empty, yet Alt.binz is not deleting them like it used to.

A few folders also still have NFO, JPG, and AVI files in them, but despite the above settings, these files are not being moved to where the rest of the files were unRARed.

This used to work, and it's driving me crazy because I can't figure out what could have changed. Any ideas?

Apart from checking your Log, the first thing to do would be to see what changed on your system between "always" and "lately", particularly any antivirus or service that might be locking the files & folders, preventing Alt.Binz from deleting or moving  them. Check also for hidden files in the folders.

You can run Process Monitor while Alt.Binz is doing its thing to see what else might be reading the files/folders.

In my logs, I see the files being successfully unRARed, then nothing after that. No indication that it's even trying to move JPG/AVI/NFO files or delete folders. (Would that information even BE logged at all?) The files and folders don't appear to be locked, as I can delete them manually. And there have been no changes on my system that could account for this. I guess I'll try watching with Process Monitor and see what happens.
